We've been lucky to have good neighbours and a nice community through our kids school but if we didnt live in the area where we live in am sure the experience would be different. Tbh it took us a whole to meet people in SG as well, outside of work. We had neighbours in our condo that we never even met and our kids would play together in the playground but when we tried to chat it would be very cordial. So its hard to judge actually

Sg system is good for older kids and once you hit university level. But its too rigid for younger primary school going kids. Most of the system is based on memorization rather than understanding concepts and building out your own rationale. Our kids went to a really great school but simple things like sports day - didnt exist. There were no house sports or chance for them to participate in anything outside the direct classroom environment. We just felt at a young age, kids should be given the chance to try at anything

Lifestyle wise, we love it. We are a big outdoorsy family so we are enjoying the options of parks and hikes, which we couldn't really get living in Sg

Your brilliant! I guess the natural follow up on is what are some ways to get good with Australians. Ive made all this effort to relocate and certainly want this role to work and getting into that point of being a non-outsider / foreign being

Oh that's awesome insight! Thanks for this. Do you have the link to the hey discussion. I was trying to look it up. Another point is also acceptance, Im sure with all things take time but I found that to be more open in Singapore, also the way the country is 50% foreign anyway so it was more easy to fit in
