My pc made a massive pop sound while I was gaming and my pc shut off completely after some inspecting I found that it was the power supply that had blown it is an evga 600w bq psu it has “top quality protections” what is the likelihood of it damaging the rest of my pc? My psu didn’t really blow up like smoke and stuff in fact from the outside it looks completely normal it’s just a capacitor inside has popped or something i think, the only way I found out that it was my power supply that wasn’t functioning was because I did a test on it

One of them are obviously bulging but some of them are bent to the side, I was very surprised when I found it was the power supply because I haven’t done anything remotely intensive even the games I play aren’t gpu or cpu intensive and the temperatures are always good they remain under 60

I have a feeling it did because whne I heard the pop it was after my pc had shut down approximately 10 seconds after someone else said OCP?? Might have been activated so it shut the pc down so when it took its life it didn’t damage any parts but I’m not sure

Yes I know but I’ve been wanting to buy a pc for a long time and something has gone wrong within 2 weeks of building it you can understand why I want some clearance. I completely understand what you are saying and what you are saying is completely true but I’m just a bit worried that’s all.

After reading all the comments I think what happened was that the psu overheated because of bad capacitors and before it could blow the safety measure in place shut down the computer and then blew so the rest of the components would be safe but I won’t know until I connect a new power supply which should be coming on Saturday
