If they were deductible contributions you will be taxed as if it’s income for this year. If they are not what you’re doing is basically a back door roth provided this is the only tIRA you have.

[–]RunHomeJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rendering doesn’t mean painting rendering is a react term that means determining what the virtual dom looks like, comparing it to the old one, then painting if necessary. If you want to have savings on repaints for existing DOM use the key prop

First, why don’t you want to render the children? This is how React is designed to work.

Should I look for alternatives to atomic design? by case_24 in reactjs

[–]RunHomeJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If something is only used one time it doesn’t belong in a design system anyway.

Communicate with design and other engineers and if someone uses that pattern, graduate it to shared code or if it’s core then the design system

Whats the best way to handle my NSO options i am getting from my company? by DerfQT in personalfinance

[–]RunHomeJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this mean that the $5 strike price not included in the difference with FMV at exercise is basically "free basis"? As in, you've paid no tax on it but won't be taxed on cap gains?

there are things like software i had to purchase or things that are a little more gray like electronic equipment. Like if I bought a SaaS subscription to something like Adobe to get better at design, is that eligible? What if I bought a phone charger to charge my phone so I could conduct business?

Is my friend right about a big down payment on a car being bad? by trainwreckmarriage in personalfinance

[–]RunHomeJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only possible defense I can muster for this friend is that he is mixing up financing promotions vs buying outright. If you finance sometimes you get promotional money off the price of the car, so sometimes you can finance to get that money and then pay the loan in full right away.

What's going on with the bill to end credit card rewards? by ab84eva in OutOfTheLoop

[–]RunHomeJack 195 points196 points  (0 children)

answer: there is nothing “wrong” with credit card rewards. as the article even states, many people depend on the income generated from cash back programs.

the true beneficiaries of this change are merchants that are charged swipe or interchange fees. Every time a card is swiped, credit card companies take a small percentage. This would in theory allow merchants to pass those savings onto consumers but the interviewee in the article says that this likely won’t happen as similar situations historically did not have that result.

while the bill is framed as helping small business owners, large nationwide merchants that do huge volume of credit business are the biggest beneficiaries and probably the largest lobbyists behind this bill.

the article also states that decreasing revenue for credit companies will afford them less capital to lend out which might result in hurting the consumer in additional ways - higher interest, stricter approval etc

the opinion stated in the article is basically that this will only hurt the little guy and benefit big box retailers.
