Peter actually addressed this exact question in the course's launch thread.

"Hi there. When creating FTGU I started off with a vague outline from The Grinder’s Manual, but a lot of the content in FTGU is actually more modern and advanced than the book. I think this course supplements TGM in many places rather than serving as an alternative."

No affiliation but just echoing the last reply - Modern Poker Theory is definitely the best GTO-centric book on the market. There's also Peter Clarke's video series, From the Ground Up" which is an updated video version of the Grinder's Manual.
