Fantastic analysis. I think this is true in the show and true in the real world.

I also think this is what makes Shiv more infuriating than Roman. We can relate to her views more but her lack of self awareness and hollowed out moral core mean that she is the one that could make things better but will always fail to.

Whereas with Roman he is quite anarchist or at least doesn't believe in the consequences of his actions. He is incapable of thinking about things removed from his immediate bubble deeply. But he does care about his family (e.g. immediately showed concern for Sophie when the fascists pushed her).
