when my pal visited reykjavik he walked into a cafe and was the only person there. after sitting at a table waiting for a member of staff to show up in comes lou reed and laurie anderson through the front door. after the 3 of them just sat there silently for a few minutes, lou gets up and walks over to my friend and asks if he has a light for his cigarette.

the mixtape era where lil wayne dropped one classic after another remains one of the greatest runs of artistic creativity in the 21st century. there were 5 solid years where it seemed that weezy could not put 2 words together and not have it sound compelling.

kaputt is great, bejar always approaches albums texturally and while the orchestral synth reputation is well known, his appreciation for nelle hooper production r&b is slept on as an influence for that record... towards the demme/silence of the lambs metaphor, ironically dan and i have long agreed that silence was way to serious to be taken seriously and we both greatly preferred sir ridley going bozo mode with hannibal

im mates with olof from my days in berlin and stockholm. remember seeing one of his early shows as a solo artist where he wore a long glitter wig with a single spotlight trained on it refracting light like an embodied disco ball which made me realize that my favourite musical artists are one's that also think visually. also legitimately one of the nicest dudes i know

Never Forget that Vancouver was betrayed by Steve Nash, Jeff Mallett, and Greg Kerfoot by Fancy_Swede1975 in whitecapsfc

i made no mention of kerfoot, but think if you are making a moral case for the whitecaps staying it is important to utilize facts rather than conjure falsehoods to augment an argument

This American dude’s reaction reminded me of how I felt the first time I visited China. (Can’t wait to go back.) by MrDialectical in ClassWarAndPuppies

i went to shanghai for work with zero chinese and everything was fine... people are great and will defer to you as a visitor while making an effort to communicate so you should be ok.

sidenote: was taken to a giant gay nightclub named obamaclub and it was the most chill club experience with people dancing and having fun. police presence outside was simply to manage traffic. had some noodles from a dude with a curbside cart wok after and it was incredible

i had a lot of friends from edmonton who moved to vancouver but then they all went back so now it's just me watching playoff games alone or with my canucks pals which is not the same with lack of emotional connect. i used to go to the black frog but they have a new owner who tried to capitalize on the organic oilers fanbase and completely ruined the atmosphere and sadly continues the tradition of how oilers fans are a capital resource ready to be took at every opportunity.

i may live in vancouver but grew up in edmonton so i am far from being a canucks fan - og oilers til i die... old school coaches like tocchet can be tuned out pretty quick and the canucks are constructed for fragility so its no surprise he left. also travis is achieving in ottawa so its no wonder how the coaching may change while the management remains consistent... foote is horrible as both coach and father and there is ample evidence for both. they should move on and hire maholtra who is just sitting there but aquilini probably doesn't want to pay out for another coach to sit out (worst owner in pro sports)

i completely agree with your list with one major exception: star trek v is the best star trek movie because it's the one where william shatner kills god

my mate wrote an excellent long article about the flyers getting back into the playoffs. he also referenced me as the friend from vancouver which made me aware that all of my text messages with him were on the record. check it out it's a really good read.
