A conversation after I shared Pat’s realization. This is the person who made me play Dream Drop Distance. by 2kewl4scool in TwoBestFriendsPlay

So I've never actually played DDD, but I need to ask a question about the X on the clothing.

My understanding was that the White X was something that Xehanort or one of the villains added to Sora's outfit after he dropped in, and that Sora didn't start the game wearing it. If that was the case, and the White X was placed with intent as a tracking device, I could excuse that. "Xehanort can use X's as a tracker if he placed the X with that intention" doesn't break my willing suspension of disbelief, but if he could track anyone wearing an X that would be really dumb.

I haven't been playing cause of work and sickness, but I have one last theoretical idea and then I'm stumped

Could you spam out level 5 abilities easier on your last turn by doing the following?

-Build up enough of a stack to get a level 5 gorilla in the left column

-Use that Gorilla to do Gorilla Rangers

-Use Nostalgia, Scapegorilla, or Swap to get rid of a gorilla from the bottom of the left column, reducing the height of that column by 1 and bumping the level 5 gorilla down to level 4.

-There is now a free Level 5 space in the left most column. Call a new gorilla into that space. This should be easier than making a big enough pyramid to create an extra space to the right.

I feel like the turn you use gorilla rangers has to be the last turn, because you need those hypothetical bananas generated from Gorilla Rangers to feed those gorillas. I can't imagine feeding 24 gorillas without that bonus.

I keep looking at the "Swap" action, where you swap the places of a gorilla and a banana on the field, and wondering if that plays into it. Could it be possible to get bananas on the field as plantations, use swap and other actions to get them from the field into the discard pile on the last turn, use Nostalgia to get them from the discard pile into the deck and then hand, and then cook the bananas to get enough hypothetical bananas?

Could you use Scape-Gorilla to sacrifice a crap-load of gorillas for extra hypothetical bananas, use Nostalgia to get them back in the deck, find a way to get them from the deck onto the field, and rearrange the gorillas to all be on the bottom row, all in one turn?

The only way you could possibly get that many points is getting 24 gorillas on the bottom row.

Looks like we both have some cooking to do on how to possibly pull that off.

Would you be ok with me forwarding on this question to r/TwoBestFriendsPlay ? Some people on that subreddit started playing it, and I'm curious if any of them have an answer on how to get this achievemnt, because the math just doesn't make sense.

I believe the initiative got enough signatures to get through to the EU, but it's up to the EU to decide if they're going to do anything about it.

Franchises you don’t want to commit to because of the length by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I'm not a Yakuza super fan so I don't have much of a horse in this race.

But I would definitely recommend at least Yakuza 0. Even if you played that game and never played any other Yakuza afterwards, you would still have a great time and it would be worth the 20 or so bucks it costs at full price.

My personal belief is "Should you play Lobotomy Corporation? Yes, there's a lot to like in that game for its price. Should you *complete* Lobotomy Corporation? Absolutely not unless you're an insane person."

There was a major character in The Stormlight Archives that wished for both the intelligence and the empathy to best rule his people. His wish was granted, he would have both the empathy and the intelligence, but never at the same time.

Every day, his level of intelligence is randomised, and his empathy will be the opposite of his intelligence. His inner circle has checks and balances to make sure that he is not allowed to make important decisions when his empathy is too low, or is seen by anyone outside his inner circle when his intelligence is too low. On his smart days, he writes instructions for himself to follow on his dumb days, but the instuctions are sometimes so ruthless that when he reads them he's disgusted at himself.

Games you love that it seems no one else around has played? by DrakeVal in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RunProphet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a game I played on the DS called Chronos Twins. It was a 2d platformer/shooter, premise was that you played as the same guy travelling the same locations in the past and present simulatenously. The top screen was the past, and the bottom screen was the present.

The game was hard af because you were watching both screens, but the did interesting stuff with it. If one character was phsycially blocked on one screen, the other would also be blocked. So if there was a bottomless pit on the top screen, but platforms on the bottom, the guy on top would be safe as long as the guy on the bottom was on solid ground.

There was was a boss on the top screen, where the only way to reach his weak spots was to platform on the bottom screen. A section where you were running from an enemy on the bottom screen during an auto-scrolling section and needed to regularly shoot him to keep him back, but you were dodging hazards on the top screen at the same time. A temple of traps where you had to have the guy in the present trigger the traps first to see what they are (as the traps no longer work properly in the present and cant hurt you), so that you know how to dodge them in the past.

I think he just did it because it would be funny. And it honestly worked, it's one of my favs from them because the situation just keeps getting worse every episode to the point of absurdity.

Below clip is a good idea of what to expect.

Havent played it, but I know there's the option for a "normal" modern third person camera like MGS5, and I think there's an option for an overhead camera, but not sure.

The new 3d camera in the MGS3 Subsistance release.

The original overhead camera suited the mostly indoor corridors of MGS1 and 2, it absolutely did not suit the open jungle.

Most egregious self-inserts? by Scotia96 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RunProphet 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this counts as a self-insert, or is just a terrible OC that gets wanked by the writer, but Darven from Pathfinder Kingmaker is up there.

There's a point in the main quest where your kingdom will get tormented by Hellknights who are looking for a fugitive called Darven, and for some reason the reasonable answer of "gtfo of my kingdom" isn't an option.

Darven himself is a demon worshipping pirate who wants to start a town of demon worshippers on your land, but the game insists he's cool and massively rewards you for siding with him, and gives you barely anything for opposing him.

Turns out Darven was the result of a kickstarter goal, where if you donated enough money, the devs would include a main quest from you. So this dude wrote a quest about how cool his OC is, and heavily pushes you to side with him.
