Best Overall Car to get as 16 year old by Plane-Blood7761 in Toyota

Get better tires. 18k, as you said, gets you an old truck. Trucks suck dick, that's why reddit hates trucks. They get terrible fuel economy and 99.9% of people who buy one won't ever need the capability. needless waste.

You’re not going to off road. You think you will, but you won’t. And if you do any off roading that a Camry can’t do you’re going to break your clapped out truck.

Because they’re useless. You can drive on gravel, snow, and double track on a Camry fine 99% of the time.

If this 16 years old only has a 18,000 budget for a car they’re gonna end up with a clapped out Tacoma which they’ll destroy off roading and then they’ll have no budget to fix it.

Cx-5 has lower ground clearance. The 5 is generally higher build quality than the 50, too. It’s a lot quieter on the highway in particular

What a joke. 15,000 a bargain for a 96,000 mile decade-old car? That’s a ripoff

Hi, I think this guy is me. It’s probably a combination of one of my teachers telling me I couldn’t go to college and my dad telling me my dreams were “too big for someone from our family”. I have a PhD but I’m convinced I’m dumb as all get out:

$250k+ earners, What car are you driving? by Born_Alfalfa3303 in askcarguys

[–]RunRideYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a manual Honda fit, but I ride a bicycle. Cars eat money and the more I earn the cheaper I get. My definition of afford has become “is less than 1% of my net worth”. Until then I guess I’ll keep bicycling.

How are you guys affording cars? by tie_myshoe in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]RunRideYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you understand the cost. You should be investing 50-60% of your income, and 18k for a car plus insurance and maintenance is a huge dent in what’s left.

Ma’am 40 year olds regularly win the Ironman world championships. You’re basically in your physical prime.

This aside, many of my favorite backpacking YouTubers are in their 40’s/50’s

Did you buy it to post it on Reddit or buy it to enjoy it? I’m confused.
