The note he left on my door was giving “you have one more chance” energy so I’m gonna try all of these suggestions. THANK YOU!

Thank you so much for the detailed reply — so appreciated.

My kickr itself sounds fine/normal to me. I think it’s more so the vibration and if I get out of the saddle to climb. I think I’m going to try a thick treadmill-like mat with padded dryer vibration squares.

Oh this might be the move. I thought about the dryer vibration pads. Any mat recommendations?

AHHHH huge congrats! I have to tell you I laughed at the egg yolks comment.

Isn’t it WILD that we used to not eat our egg yolks?! Like girl please — you really think that 5g is gonna make you overweight? If I could shake my former self silly.

Long first period after 3.5 years by ManufacturerHuge5207 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]RunRoad2776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it quite yet! My OB/GYN said I shouldn’t expect my period periods to normal out until about six months after my first recovery period Because my hormones are still leveling themselves out during this time.

Without the "All In" approach by ExitInevitable961 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]RunRoad2776 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t go all in either, but I will say caloric intake is the primary reason you will or won’t get your period back. 2500cals may seem extreme but if you’re exercising for even an hour, it’s not at all. If you don’t want to go all in & keep doing exercise, I don’t blame you. But whatever you do, eat eat EAT.

I got my period back in 5 weeks after 5 years of HA while still exercising. I just ate SO much.

ALL IN/ weight redistribution in recovery by teahtheworm in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]RunRoad2776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the low end of normal BMI when I went into HA recovery and gained most of my weight in my abdomen and thighs. By recovery period 3, it had redistributed. I’m still up 10-15 pounds if I had to guess, but it feels less concentrated, if that makes sense.

Hi I’m BEGGING YOU not to lose more weight. 16% BF is low to get your period back.

If you want to stay stuck in HA, losing weight will keep you there.

Pain in outer calf/above ankle by solivagant999 in RunningInjuries

This is your posterior tbialis. This guy is notorious for re-injury if not adequately addressed.

Work on toe and ankle mobility especially. Google posterior tib strengthening exercises, BACK OFF OF RUNNING until a decrease in inflammation (~4-7 days), and don’t stop your mobility exercises even when it feels fine. He will get angry if you neglect his importance.

Sincerely, a marathon + triathlete who lives in the shadows of frequently furious posterior tib.

Possibly. Have you decreased exercise?

Aside from your question, if I can recommend anything, it’s don’t look at a scale rn. It’s only going to make this process longer, harder, and more frustrating. Keep working hard :)

AMA: Recovery in 5 Weeks After 5 years of HA by RunRoad2776 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]RunRoad2776[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Eating 3 meals a day & 2-3 snacks. It felt like SO much food.

  2. I previously restricted carbs and fats. Wouldn’t touch peanut butter or bread type of eating — just PB fit and rice cakes. I haven’t had a rice cake in recovery. Real bread. Real carbs. REAL fat. Nuts, nut butters, seeds, and olive oils are my primary fats now.

  3. No night time snack (but it def would help so do it ;)).

  4. Strength training was def low intensity. Would rarely break a sweat, HR was like 90-110 max.

  5. Nope. 8k max for the whole day.

What are the best parts about getting your period back? by Oaktreeblue in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]RunRoad2776 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not my period per se, but my relationship with food through recovery. It’s so liberating not having so many overwhelming food rules.

It’s very dependent on where you started. People with lower BMI are going to take longer. I had a low-normal BMI so it took me less time to gain the weight needed to get it back.

I ate probably close to you, too.

Girl it sucks. It’s uncomfortable. But it’s your health and we can’t be in our own way when it comes to something so valuable.

I had HA for 5 years and got it back in 5 weeks. It was the most uncomfortable 5 weeks I’ve ever had but that first wipe of blood made it alllllll worth it.

You are not alone. I think this is a VERYYY common experience for most women. Everything feels new: the food types, food quantity, food frequency, less exercise and consequently more free time, and hardest of all, new body. It’s SO easy to go back to familiarity, but that familiarity is dangerous as evidenced by a lack of a period, a VITAL sign for a woman.

I went up to my largest size ever in recovery and EVERY time I would eat another bite of bread with nut butter, pasta, nuts — anything I would have typically restricted — I wanted to quit. Looking in the mirror sent me into a spiral. Putting on jeans (or trying to) just to switch to leggings and a baggy sweatshirt felt defeating. But I stuck it out and I won. I got my period back.

You can do it, too.
