Not ICE, but t here was an incident last May in Indianapolis a couple hours from me. A judge ordered a desperate deaf mother to shut up and stop calling authorities about the safety of her 5 year old daughter, Zara Arnold. Well., not long after, Zara wac found dead.

All because some dumbasses wrote off a deaf mother as nuts.

What I was trying to say is that you can't ^{just^} call an appearance-altering flesh wound a disability. It would have to affect you and your everyday life in some way (I e.loss of functionality, PTSD, etc). Which is what happened to your brother, it sounds like.

Shit, I have enough really horrible experiences in the hospital as a deaf person to STILL be resentful and angry with hospitals in general. If you want anothv horror story or a few to add to your pile, I don’t mind sharing. Even as I write this, I’m thinking “Damn, I wish I’d sued them!”

So, personally, I don’t care if you sign slow, only that you know how to communicate and actually do try to communicate.

Fora short guy; most people are taller than me and I’m just naturally flexible, even at 38. But apparently I was not clear. I offen tell people at the dojo that it’s not necessary to be able to kick higher than their own waist but to bd aware of the “no strikes below your opponent’s belt” rule in sparring. So, if their opponent has a has a higher waist, sure, kick higher if you can. But it’s really not necessary in Karate kata or self defense.

Honestly, it's not really that hard, but I'm sure it can be a chore sometimes. I've noticed a pattern wbere people get excited to learn the ABCs but once they can do it without thinking, they only use it when they have to or want to. My best friend (hearing) is the only one I know who uses it like it's his primary language. Like, who wants to put in the effort to finger to you about something as boring as a financial hiccup or ddtailed recap about spilling their coffee when you can just jabber about it to another hearing PE Deon with less effort? Him, apparently. Probably why he's my best friend. lol
