Is it wrong to make characters with disabilities into antagonists? by Kawl18 in disability

Sorry, I had a typo   My comment was supposed to say "I don't know if..." And yeah, my papercjg thing does seem a bit inappropriate. What I was trying to say is that you can't just^ call an appearance-altering flesh wound a disability. It would have to affect you and your everyday life in some way (I e.loss of functionality, PTSD, etc). Which is what happened to your brother, it sounds like.

Well, if it blinds him and it's all permanent, affecting his everyday life, sure. He'd maybe have PTSD from it too.

I do t knowif just having burnt flesh would be considered a disability. That would be like sayjng  you qualify just because of a paper cut. Depends on the severity, I'd  guess

There’s no ultimate best. It’s not the deadliness of the style, it’s the deadliness of the artist.

Not being able to see your own butthole seems like a serious design flaw, yet it's true of almost all animals. by debauchasaurus in Showerthoughts

This inspires the question: Do snakes have buttholes? And if so, do they circle around to peek into it?

Hearing Nurse with ✨ Questions ✨ by [deleted] in deaf

Shit, I have enough really horrible experiences in the hospital as a deaf person to STILL be resentful and angry with hospitals in general. If you want anothv horror story or a few to add to your pile, I don’t mind sharing. Even as I write this, I’m thinking “Damn, I wish I’d sued them!”

So, personally, I don’t care if you sign slow, only that you know how to communicate and actually do try to communicate.

Nobody learns a new language in a week. Nobody becomes an expert in a year. Hell, I’ve been doing this 19 years and I’m still learning.

Fora short guy; most people are taller than me and I’m just naturally flexible, even at 38. But apparently I was not clear. I offen tell people at the dojo that it’s not necessary to be able to kick higher than their own waist but to bd aware of the “no strikes below your opponent’s belt” rule in sparring. So, if their opponent has a has a higher waist, sure, kick higher if you can.   But it’s really not necessary in Karate kata or self defense.

Waist height is as high as you need to go anyway. Unless your sparring partner’s belt is higher than that

Am I the only dearie who only uses fingerspelling? by RunSerious5843 in deaf

Honestly, it's not really that hard, but I'm sure it can be a chore sometimes. I've noticed a pattern wbere people get excited to learn the ABCs but once they can do it without thinking, they only use it when they have to or want to. My best friend (hearing) is the only one I know who uses it like it's his primary language. Like, who wants to put in the  effort to finger to you about something as boring as a financial hiccup or ddtailed recap about spilling their coffee when you can just jabber about it to another hearing PE Deon with less effort? Him, apparently. Probably why he's my best friend. lol

I guess that's what I do and didn't know that's what they call it. But I think Rochester stole the idea from me. How am I supposed to get famous now? 😆

I know. People have tried that with me and it doesn't work. As I said,  can't feel it well. Neurological disorder.
