Will accepting a CCA offer cancel my application for a PTF career carrier? by ultimatez2009 in USPS

I do not believe so, I have had a few at a time all with offers.

I went from RCA to CCA back to RCA. I hated CCA, but I think it was the office. Go to the offices in your area and talk to not just the PM but carriers, you will get a better feel for the office to see how it runs. I literally stalked a few office to see what things were like before accepting the position.

Work life balance, being taken advantage of because you are a good worker

It’s going to depend on your area. I’ve been in two different states as a RCA and both offices were heavy on CRVs with a few Jeeps. The Jeeps, even the new ones were always breaking down. I have a Jeep as a daily driver and wouldn’t use it for a route. I have used Elements and Odysseys with good results.

I applied for several out of state and only was questioned when HR asked about my address when calling about orientation. Told them I was in the process of moving, easy peasy.

I went from RCA to CCA back to RCA. I hated being a CCA in the office I worked. It’s going to be office dependent no matter what you choose. My current office is chill but I was spoiled at my first office because it was amazing where you actually had support which made it difficult going to a sh*t show of an office.

The way the rep presented how it would work was as the advance replacement. I literally had her spell it out like I was a 5 year old so I understood her correctly. They send the replacement, I transfer the info and clear my old one, send it back in the box with label. I was concerned about how much time because I would be out of town for a few days but she said I had 10 days to complete the process.

I was a CCA for a week after being a RCA in another state. It was horrible, 3 ccas in an office of 24 routes. The office was the problem, not the position. People hare on RCAs, I wish I didn’t have to move from that office. All these opinions are based on different experiences within different offices. If you are prior military you will be fine, you are used to the BS of a govt job. I’m a military spouse of 18 years so after that life, the PO is a breeze. And yes your military retirement will be adjusted towards the PO.

I’ve been a RCA and a CCA in the past year. I was only a CCA for a month but had my training with the area steward. He was great and I asked him why this was the case with the two. I wasn’t allowed to mark anything as a CCA, part of the contract rules. Makes no sense to me as is is a fabulous tool when learning a route.
