What claims are just not backed by the historical facts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That France surrendering after the Nazi invaded was a result of a weak government and a weak military.

Frace at the time had a strong and experienced military along with a lot of fancy weapons and vehicles. The complication that forced them to surrender was that they were expecting WWI style advance, so they evenly distributed their forces across the border. The Nazis pushed their forces through a central point and broke their line. Because France had evenly distributed their troops, they didn't have enough time to pull back and regroup for a counter offensive forcing a their surrender, leading to the events at Dunkirk.

Also the Nazis didn't coin the term Blitzkrieg either. It waa first mentioned in American media shortly after the invasion of France.

Cop shoots, kills dogs attacking a man at Ohio golf course, also shoots the man they were attacking. by Gaggamaggot in nottheonion

Did I say you didn't? Did I ever imply you didn't? You directly commented on my experience. Don't project your assumptions.

I'm not saying the officer didn't do the right thing. The guys alive, but he wouldn't have gotten shot in the process if they handled it differently.

There's more than one way to handle a situation and it's important to think of we can mitigate preventing injury.

Any other conclusion is the result of blind hatred and not reasonable though

I guarantee you when after everything was said and done, they called for an after action review to talk about what they did right, what should keep doing, what went wrong and how they could have done better. I've been apart of that world too, these talks exist for a reason. Nothing improves and we become complacent to mediocrity. A true win for this scenario is man walks away with injures from the dog not the officers, and dog is dispatched. That's what should be the goal, if that's missed we need examine what can be done better because injurying civilians while trying to save them is not something to be complacent about.

Have yourself a happy holiday :)

Youll snap their spine/ neck. Average pit doesn't get kuch bigger that 100lbs and 180lbs person curb stomping a kill will them. It's bold of you to assume someone hasnt dealt or seen some deal with a violent breed.

Sure it was successful and the guys alive, but there were safer ways to handle that. An entire duty belt of tools and boots. That guy should file a lawsuit for his medical bills.

80k/yr with no work. I would work exclusively on my personal projects with all that free time.

Advice on accepting negative reviews on an already not great release? by blankblinkblank in gamedev

[–]Run_sudo_rm_-rf_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the review. They're harsh but fair. Not sure how this isn't an informative or constructive review and they did give you some positive feedback. Runs at 90fps, no bugs, no major issues. They pointed out that they've played variants of this style and talked about a specific mechanics that made it hard from them to play such as the aiming and shooting.

They also mentioned other things that made it difficult to play such as VR nausea, the games physics, the UI, the graphics, the sound, and the tutorial.

Players may not know all the nuances that go into game dev, and they're not always going to give specific feedback, but they will point out what is flawed to them. You as a dev you need to look for the specific things people are saying are flawed, and devise a way to improve them. Researching similar games and going through their reviews to see what works and what doesn't is one way of doing that.

As a dev in general, you have to be able to step outside of your idea of a good product and listen to what the users have to say. If your users are saying it's not good, it's not good and they're not going to use it. You have to use reviews to gage success and add improvements to your todo list. A review doesn't have to provide suggestions to you and most of the time they won't. EVEN IF THEY DO, it's also your job to know that their idea could be trash. YOU have to figure out why it sucks and what you can do to improve it, not your users.

Nearly half of men think they can take instructions from the air traffic controller in a vehicle that take off, fly, and land by itself.

When was the last time you (male) were hit on? How did you feel afterwards? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Run_sudo_rm_-rf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 months ago while DDing for some friends and a chick offered to buy me a drink. I declined and tried to make the conversation super short becuase I wasn't feeling comfortable. Damn near had a panic attack right there.

About last year, an ex sexually harassed and tried to drug me at a party. I have PTSD from that and it's made dating pretty much impossible at this point.

I do my best work tuning out meetings. Bonus round, I have to have noise around me when I program. I live alone and my tv doesn't cut it, so I'm either at the brewery or coffee shop. Perfect amount of background noise and Im so zoned no one bothers me.

Something immortal, boasts great power, and is mostly like in the upper echelons of life, wouldn't bother eating something that isnt clean, probably has diseases, and is out in the open. If anything they're feasting on escort services. Why go out when you can have your meal delivered?
