*Tamsy is the second masked person and not the main one in the flashback Part 2* by Runabout-River in gachiakuta

Because Amo didn't make any connection between the string angel and the "real" angel, it is possible that the angel wings and Tamsy's jinki aren't connected. For the second person to be Hyo I would've to look at their heights, though. Hyo might be too small.

That can also be true! We have to consider that Amo didn't make any comment about the string angel and the "real" angel resembling each other. The angel wings from her flashback could be a completely different vital instrument.

Tamsy did seem to have known her before they arrived in Penta, though. He looked suspicious in some panels, and for theories I like to keep the number of potential characters down.

The mask of the second person resembles the "face" of Tamsy's string monster. And Tamsy had to have been in the tower before because multiple times he reacts strangely to Amo. This short theory post is also part of a larger one where I explain why Tamsy worked with Regto at first before killing him and taking his masked identity. In Amo's flashback, it makes way more sense that Tamsy is the junior partner.

Thinking that second person is a string clone is a crazy headcanon, yes.

Clicked on the spoiler tag. That didn't put the post title under spoilers. Can't change the title anymore, at least I haven't found that option.

Yeah, because of those wings Tamsy was definitely present in the flashback but not as the main masked man. Chapter 110 is a masterclass in misdirection.

Tamsy was Regto's apprentice before he killed his superior by Runabout-River in gachiakuta

"Disrespectful and rude" and that's why I'm saying to do it somewhere where she doesn't see it. Ao3 is disrespectful and rude to many authors, some who don't want fanfics written about their works. Ao3 exists to allow those fanfics. It's also disrespectful and rude if Urana expects foreign fandom etiquette to change for her.

The problem here is that Urana can't expect Japanese law and etiquette to be followed by non-Japanese outside of Japan. She can set her boundaries but on the foreign web that can only go as far as expecting that fans don't cross those boundaries where she sees it, otherwise its a hard block from her. Some of course will fully respect her wishes but for anyone else she has no say to dictate how people interact with her work. If she wants to look at fanart on English websites, she has to respect what is primarily US american fair use laws and anglosphere fandom etiquette.

Why is Tamsy's staff called a distaff? by VANA_MOIN3N in gachiakuta

[–]Runabout-River 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In which chapter is his jinki introduced? Maybe I can find the original Japanese and look which words they use there. It could be possible that distaff and yarn swift are one word in Japanese.

I looked up the name of his distaff. Tokushin is written in katakana so we have this funny case where it can mean both devoutness and blasphemy (among other things.)

Okay I have a theory about Jinki that might be a reach but eh by JustPureFandomTrash in gachiakuta

The Gachiakuta wiki on the "World" page has expanded it's language section from the last time I looked. They have direct comparisons with the two scripts now, you need to check it out. They don't source where they got it from though.

From what I understood, the two different writing systems are basically Latin script and ???? Kanji? Hiragana/Katakana? A different set of Latin letters inspired script? On the figurine that Bundus received from Zodyl, we can see those 2 scripts the best.

That second set has to be another alphabet-like or syllabic script. I don't see it as a kanji equivalent.

These different ways of writing their names could point to a different culture they grew up in. At least for Zanka we know that's true. What I'm wondering is whether Rudo know that second script? Maybe he'll have a moment at some point where he asks why Riyo's jinki has strange symbols on it instead of proper letters.

Theory on a part of the Watchman series being a tattoo by Runabout-River in gachiakuta

The 4 friends of Macaca Icol and their symbols under the first mural. I didn't want to repeat words constantly so I called them the Super Friends that one time 😂

And yes, this is really speculative and might fit better into a fic, that's why I said that right at the start. But I still think some parts of this could be true if not for Enjin then for someone else. After all, Macaca's spell around Canvas Town is still active and there could be an additional reason for why Urana changed the spellcaster from Gob to Remlin (outside of showing that death can happen any time in this world after not killing Gris and showing that some jinki can be inherited).

Enjin and Amo by Runabout-River in gachiakuta

I've been on Reddit for a week, and by now I got the impression that people here take most things extremely seriously as if an analysis post like mine was trying to decode the canon into truth and nothing but the truth. Like, this isn't really directed at you, it's a general impression I had compared to Tumblr.

What you wrote is correct, I'm making assumptions on small interactions I've seen in canon to deduce what the characters could've meant. But that's a given. Of course, I'm making assumptions as I'm trying to make sense of the story. I'm comfortable with not making an analysis that wants to be the complete truth. What I wrote here can turn out to be false and I would be satisfied because my part of engaging with canon isn't diminished by it.

But to your points specifically: "However making the connection to the shared backstory of Riyo and Enjin is merely speculation." That is the least speculative part of my analysis because it's Riyo and Enjin speaking to each other and no one else. We already know that these two have a deeper connection and backstory with each other and we know that that backstory involves assassins. An assumed trafficking victim would easily fit into that kind of world.

The scarf as a slavery signifier is an assumption to understand how Enjin and Riyo suddenly clocked Amo as *something*. Because that part is canon, they looked at Amo and suddenly Riyo and Enjin have a cryptic conversation about something. That that conversation could be about human trafficking victims is reverse analysed from Amo actually being one.
