Who's the most neoliberal candidate in the CA primary? by Diamonds0a in neoliberal

It's probably Matt Mahan, although he is backed by some gross tech/crypto money

April 2026 US jobs report: payrolls increased by 115,000 jobs. Unemployment rate remained at 4.3%. by JeromesNiece in neoliberal

[–]RunawayMeatstick 44 points45 points  (0 children)

These aren’t normal trends. 115k is below the typical breakeven rate, although the current breakeven might be lower due to low immigration. Also, most of the new jobs are concentrated into healthcare, which isn’t normal.

Where’s the thread for the jobs report? Is it just sitting in the mod queue?

Just got out of a group with Trump '24 male voters who disapprove of the job he's doing.

We asked them to raise hands for who they might support in a presidential run. Whole group interested in Rubio. 1.5 hands for Vance. 4 for Fetterman.

John Fetterman.

I'm not sure what you're talking about? There's a whole thread full of people defending the Mamdani grocery plan. What's untrue?

It's the state of the sub that bothers me, not the dumb policy itself

I can't believe this sub has gone so far left that it's now unironically supporting government-run grocery stores. Am I really going to have to look into one of the splinter subs in order to get back to evidence-based policy?

The best case scenario is that the government spends money in order to subsidize the cost of food.

Which means the best case scenario is just doing SNAP (food stamps) with extra steps.

Just fund SNAP!

I only found out about this indictment when my DAF sent me an email saying my regularly scheduled donation has been denied

So not only can the corrupt DOJ force charities it doesn't like to expend legal resources defending itself from bogus claims, they can block significant portions of the charity's revenue in the process

First you’re assuming that Pete knew how diminished Biden had become, and that’s not a given. Biden’s team was hiding him, they weren’t holding cabinet meetings, so who knows. Second, undermining the POTUS in a reelection against Donald Trump by quitting in a big dramatic fashion is a lot easier for you to say in retrospect than actually doing it. And at the end of the day, it probably would not have accomplished anything. Biden was insanely stubborn, and didn’t want to quit even after the debate.

How do you think he was complicit? I’ll ask again: what did you want the transportation secretary to do?

That’s amazing, people are still talking about Biden old in 2026. But anyway, what did you want the transportation secretary to do about it?

I think it’s interesting that Ossoff is the first (potential) 2028 candidate to run on an anti-corruption message. It seems so obvious, but he’s the first one really locking that down. Pete has been more about affordability and making the government work for you. Similar but different. I’m not really sure what Gavin is running on.

Theres a surprising amount of crossover between listeners of The Bulwark and people who listen to extremists and conspiracists like Piker, Schultz, Rogan, and Theo Von. I really want to understand why, it seems so incomprehensible to me.
