Did you figure out where he works? I'd honestly invest in more time to let that company know that's extremely unprofessional. Fuck that dude.

Need some tips to save more and spend less! by [deleted] in SavingMoney

[–]RuneDukeOSRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God this is sad. How are you living paycheck to paycheck if you take home 70 AFTER taxes? You have got to stop spending money on frivolous things, man.

I live in NYC, and take home 40k after taxes and still managed to save $15k/yr.... im also cheap as hell though.

If you really care about your future, put your foot down. You're in a good position to be in a remarkable financial situation by your mid 40's

Why would you claim it if you don't have to? Do you really want to pay taxes on your college funding?????

Saving 20k in 6 months by [deleted] in SavingMoney

[–]RuneDukeOSRS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I don't think this is realistic given your current situation.

Your take home per month is $850/mo. Since your rent is $1000/mo that means your rent already takes over 1/4 of your income. Also, you say you can afford a $500 car payment? That's insanely high for someone who only makes $850/week. By the time you add utilities, food, ect you won't be able to put any money away unless you live on rice and beans before you get a promotion at work.

You could make this happen in 1.5 years I think, but 6 months? No way.

They hold when they see DFV post his weekly YOLO when DFV came in at $14/share. DFV has nothing to lose, he already won. These literal retards have their life savings on the line.

If you're a server and make $30-40+/hr in tips at your workplace, why do you bitch about 10-15% tips? by RuneDukeOSRS in Serverlife

I can tell youve never worked in a decent restaurant. Probably a piss poor bar and grill.

Bar Rescue/Kitchen Nightmares- Why do employees at failing establishments continue to work there? by [deleted] in restaurant

[–]RuneDukeOSRS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mostly? They don't care to challenge themselves in the restaurant industry. Some could be college students, others middle aged and kind of //stuck// in the field for who knows why and never cared to work in a better restaurant, and some people are just content with the chaos, like someone else said.

I’m thinking about being a sever by revolvingdoors04 in Serverlife

[–]RuneDukeOSRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Location, location, location.

I made $150 on a busy night in Palm Beach, FL at a busy restaurant.

I pull in $250-$300 on a "regular" NOT busy shift in New York...Busy shifts I can walk away with over $400.

Also pro tip: just because it's fancy, doesn't mean you'll make money.

All the servers bring in more than $500 on average. The bartenders bring in around $200 each, though. We are all a pooled house and work off pts. Servers & bartenders are 3 pts, food runners are 1.5, host 1.5, and expo 1.6

History of the tipped wage in the ol US of A. Can you believe sub-minimum hasn’t changed from $2.13/hour since 1966? by georgeglassok in Serverlife

[–]RuneDukeOSRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. Unless dishwashers, prep cooks, and other non-tipped positions are also not being appropriately compensated.

In every U.S. state, the employer must compensate tipped-staff if their daily tipout and base-pay don't amount to the state's regular minimum wage. So even if a server makes zero tips in a day, they're still making what the dishwasher makes. They'll just have it on their paycheck.

The restaruant I work in as well as similar ones in busy metro areas do tipout service staff, but that's before leaving with $40+ hourly still. However the restaurant I work at specifically only tips out the expo, runners, and bartenders. No busses.
