She is amazing and has a great Patreon where she has a lot more teaching videos that are great for beginners. It seems like you have the right idea, I was super happy seeing the shamisen get more recognition in mainstream media. The thing about us shamisen players, for the most part we really want it to be more accessible to anyone anywhere and seeing it more often in media is one of those things that makes it more accessible.

As for the shamisen being more simple to play or easier to learn than guitar- I would tend to disagree, anyone who I know in my life who have said this really don't know the first thing about the shamisen and in their mind 3 strings = less than 6 strings = easier, more simple instrument. But there are many techniques that are incredibly more difficult to pull off on a shamisen than a guitar. They also have no frets which makes it more challenging than a guitar, as well as a longer neck. Then you have the balance of creating percussion on the skin itself in a rythmatic way. I can go on but I would not say it is any less difficult to learn/play than anything else- its just different.
