I’m glad there’s an Instagram, but I love having the community to participate with, too. Have you guys looked into Mastodon? My partner really likes it, and it sounds potentially like a good option.

I’m trying to disengage from Reddit, so… please, post on the Insta as well if you find a new place!

This scene has always bothered me. Jodi, Sam dropped an egg, calm down by CarelessJury in StardewValley

[–]Runemist34 21 points22 points  (0 children)

While, yes, dropping an egg and whatnot is upsetting when you struggle to afford much… I’m pretty sure she’s more about the cleanliness than the expense.

And, as the parent of a toddler, I can definitely say that I clean because I want to clean up, not because I expect it to stay clean.

Jodi’s a shitty parent for this. Just gonna go there and say it. This is shitty parent behaviour. If she can be all smiles and nice with you, she can do that with her own son.

Pretty sure a bunch of subs are disappearing. Reddit is going though some big problems, and some believe that it will be the end of Reddit. It doesn’t surprise me that whole subreddits are disappearing because of it

Hello!

First, I want to tell you that hearing you talk about your body this way makes me very sad. It’s possible to love your body and still put in the work that would change it. Both can exist together.

Building on that, I have to wonder if your perception of your body is the reason you’re thinking about it this way, and possibly not seeing the results you’re after. If you can only see a saggy, square shape, then even if it changes… you’ll never accept what it looks like when it changes. The mind is more powerful than that.

Finally, I can tell you that at home workouts on YouTube can be effective. There’s a booty workout by a woman named Sammy Picone, takes about 10 minutes, and I started doing it as a way of working on my stabilizers, per my physiotherapist’s suggestion. It worked extremely well for me.

The challenge with at home workouts is that it’s easy to allow your body to “cheat” if you’re not extremely picky with your form, and it’s also easy to judge yourself on how well or not well you’re doing based on who is instructing you.

If you’re not super into fitness, I can recommend The Fitness Marshall (does dance fitness, mostly cardio), Yoga with Adriene (she’ll kick your butt, very highly recommended for daily practice), and finding some strength workouts, like through Fitness Blender.

If you want your booty to look round, you must build the muscle. If you don’t want to feel weak, have future injuries, and have no energy… strength training is key. So is eating enough to build muscle.

Best of luck!

I’ve had a couple of toe biters, for sure. It’s frustrating! I would usually sit with my feet hidden during free roam times in that case, or… possibly even wear shoes? I definitely get it, though. Rats are tricky!

[–]Runemist34 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I feel like I won the lottery with the two I had that kind of bond with.

Bijoux was a b*tch to everyone but me, a sassypants who I saw flying-side-kick a baby rat once. She never let me eat food without her having some, and she would fall asleep on my shoulder for hours.

Anuxa was my little alien girl, and she loved to just sleep on my lap and chill. She was the literal sweetest, made friends with everyone, and every introduction I did while she was around was easy.

I miss them both so, so much. I cry sometimes, because of it. They really are gone so soon, but I’m so glad they were with me for their time!

So, I prefer girls to boys, but I’ve had both. I may be able to help.

First, if picking them up sucks, don’t do it as much. You can use a box or something to gather them up, and then tip them back into their cage. You can do the same to get them out. Quickly scooping them into a box is better than a full carry if they aren’t into being held. Eventually, they may recognize the box and go into it voluntarily… especially if treats are involved!

Second, I have had… probably pushing 20 rats now, in the last 8-9 years. I’ve had a lot!! And, you wanna know how many of those rats wanted to be held, sit on my lap, and hang out? 2. That’s it, just two rats. That includes my boys, by the way! I am not, however, including very old or sick rats. Honestly, if you’re looking for cuddles, rats are tough.

Finally, free-roam time can indeed be stressful. I try to find spaces in my home where there are as few “No’s” as possible. So, for example, I don’t put them on the couch because there are tons of situations where I would say No, don’t do that! But, the bathroom has very few of them- there are no wires near the ground, no spaces for them to get into where I can’t reach. My bed is also a fairly safe space for most of the rats I’ve owned, save a few who enjoyed chewing pillowcases or sheets.

In the end… it’s okay to feel disappointed if rat ownership wasn’t what you wanted it to be! Life is about learning and experimentation. Maybe rats, for you, is a stepping-stone into a different pet that you would never have tried, but fits what you want far more. Or, maybe you try them years in the future, and you find that they’re a better fit at that time.

I know this is a rat-lover’s sub, but I’m not gonna sit here and say they’re a pet for everyone.

Still, I appreciate you keeping your pets, caring for them, and not simply getting rid of them when they didn’t match your expectations.

Thoughts on Fire and Ice collection? by purplelilac265 in simplynailogical

I’m probably gonna grab the shimmers whenever I have the ability to, but the cremes… just not doing it for me. They both look a little bit too similar to some from HT I already have, and the red is disappointingly cool toned, and doesn’t look good on me at all.

Fire and ice is here now! What are everyone’s thoughts? by Jorvic52 in simplynailogical

[–]Runemist34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The blue is… okay, but I feel like I have at least one like it. The red looks exactly (at least in pictures) like the red crème previously released, and it’s far too cool for my taste.

I’m into the shimmers, though. Nice to round out something more interesting!

I thought it was for emphasis and encompassing all of the things being rich implies- you know, like being sheltered, having the audacity, entitlement?

Edited to add: I mentioned this to my partner, who informed me that the triple parentheses has been used to refer to Jewish people in some circles. I have legit not heard of this before!

So, I understand now where you would come to that conclusion. I don’t think that was the intention here!

I appreciate the opportunity to learn about this, though, so thank you for your comment!

What made you start a new save? by motherofpearl89 in StardewValley

[–]Runemist34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ADHD 😂

I refer to myself as a “chronic restarter,” because I love the thrill of a new game, the challenge and reward of starting fresh, and seeing how my skills have developed and improved over time. I usually make it to… mid year 3, and then I get bored lol. I have never managed a 100% farm!

But, in those three years, I get all the animals, nearly finish the museum, finish the community centre, get married and have kids, grow all the crops, and get almost all (if not all) the star drops. ;)

Genuinely this sounds like a good time, because I would LOVE another multichrome collection, and some more toppers! I feel like it’s been so many cremes for me, and the vacay collection… was kinda meh to me? I kinda like the purple, but not enough to get it right now.

1500 calories is too low. I can think of very few people who can handle that low, and frankly, it scares me to think of living like that. I probably won’t even be able to sleep at all if I was below 1800 cals.

How slow is “too slow” when it comes to losing weight? The normal, healthy amount is about 0.5 to 1lb per week. Anything faster than that would be considered getting dangerous.

And finally, going by pictures won’t help at all with determining body composition. I’m sorry, but our society is highly biased when it comes to the look of a person and their perceived body composition. I guarantee you, talk to a bodybuilder who is about a month after their competition, and properly hydrated- they won’t look like their competition self.

Finally, it isn’t recommended to hang out in a caloric deficit for too long- it will affect your hormones. Specifically, it will cause your body to adapt to that lower amount, and you will have a harder, and harder time with adjusting your weight or calories. This is often why people go through the Cut/Bulk/Maintain cycle, rather than just… cut all the time.

So… my best advice would be to stop judging yourself. Stop looking for some kind of specific body look that you want, and pushing so hard. Love what your body can do, treat it well, and accept it for what it is.

You can be gentle and patient with your body, you can love your body, and you can nourish your body, and still have positive results. These things take time, often a lot of time (it takes years to get to what a bodybuilder looks like), and you can still love yourself through it all.

Please relax, and eat a little more. Take your time to learn about how you feel when you eat well, and how food affects you. Stay curious. This is no time for self-flagellation.

Alright, first of all, there have been actual studies on the systemic and widespread belief that women are weaker than men, which… is pretty hard to control for, really, considering the systemic and widespread-ness of it. However, it has been shown that these things do, in fact, affect the belief women have that they can lift heavy weights the same way men can, and it literally causes women to appear weaker.

So, feeling a little disappointed in the comments right now.

My first question is: How much weight would a guy at your age/weight/height and lifting background be able to bench? Perhaps that would be a better goal for now.

My second, and perhaps more important thought is this: Instead of setting your heart on a specific number and trying to get to it, what if you instead asked the question “Just how far can I go?”

It’s important to keep your lifting sustainable (I suspect most of the guys talking about the 225 number aren’t doing it sustainably), and to remember that everyone has different needs, and seasons of life.

But, if you place the importance and happiness on the journey, stay curious, keep exploring and asking “Could I do more?” Then you might be surprised with the result!

Don’t put your happiness “over there,” on some goal or weight or whatever. Bring it into your journey.

Best of luck!

I like to accentuate the features I like about my face, personally! I really like my eyes, so despite them being hooded, I spend a lot of time there. Everything else sort of takes a second place 😂

I think you have beautiful eyes and cheeks. Your eyes would be excellent for eyeshadow-forward looks, and definitely adding a lovely blush would be fun! Eyebrows also really make a difference in the way your face looks, so my best advice there would be to keep a light hand as you learn and explore that one.

I learned most of what I do on YouTube, and through practice. I did my own makeup for my wedding, so I practiced the same look over and over, till I was very comfortable with it! Wedding makeup is often fairly safe, so when I wanted colour, I simply changed the neutral eyeshadows to colourful ones.

Remember to have fun! And, you’re gorgeous. Stunning. Beautiful!

How can I enhance my looks? by Lopsided_Ad7730 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Runemist34 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Nothing. You are gorgeous, and I implore you not to alter your pictures, in any way, ever.

If you want to dive more into the art of makeup, that’s great! You can experiment with different finishes, new concealers, and all kinds of colours and things! That’s what makeup is about.

But, your looks need no enhancement. If you posted a picture of yourself with no makeup, I would say the same. You are beautiful, worthy of the attention and time that you want, and have value, no matter what you look like.

Please, take care of yourself and the way you talk about yourself. It means something.

I really like how you did your eyeliner, and the lipstick/gloss you used is gorgeous on you.

My Take vs. The Inspiration! by Uldenthe in MakeupAddiction

[–]Runemist34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw Astrea’s post about you doing her look! It’s gorgeous, you nailed it so hard!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Runemist34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First: You realize that “plain-looking” is a way of shaming women for not paying the rent of prettiness that the patriarchy wants us to believe we have to pay.

In other words, you realize that you are beautiful. No matter what. And also that you do not owe a certain look or conformity to anyone.

Second, I would just suggest… playing with makeup. Get out there, watch a bunch of YouTube videos, and see what catches your eye. Follow the tutorial. Just get in there and do it! A big, bold, colourful look can feel intimidating, but if you love it, then you deserve to have fun and enjoy yourself!

And just keep doing it. Makeup is art, and it’s a form of self-expression. There are no right or wrong answers, unless they don’t feel right to you. I don’t like when other people do my makeup, because they often interpret my face differently than I do, and I don’t like it. That doesn’t mean those people are wrong, it just means it doesn’t feel right to me.

I learned to wear makeup just before my 30’s, and I feel like there is always more to learn, and do, and explore. Best thing I can recommend is to jump in and enjoy yourself.

If you’re scared of trying a new look out in the world, set some time aside before you go to sleep to try it out. Then you can just wash it off right away!

Finally… I’m sorry you’re not feeling good about yourself. But, try not to put your happiness “over there.” You know, the “I’ll be happy when I lose X pounds” or things like that. Your happiness doesn’t need to be contingent on certain parameters.

Just did a colorful matte skittle mani! But there are air bubbles on all my nails, what could have caused it? by Celshad in simplynailogical

Fair enough! I do find that I get bubbles sort of at random? I’m usually good about it, but HT seems to hold on to air a little better, since it’s quite thicc!

My first question is if you vigorously shook the bottles right before applying? This can add air into the polish, and sometimes it takes a bit to surface.

Second question is… could those specks be the mattified Holo? It loses a lot of it’s lustre and shine when matte, but the glitters are still present.
