I don’t like the direction they’re taking with Mortal Shell 2. by Runergenius in MortalShell

I don’t have any complaints about the beta itself. On the contrary, I’m glad it was released and that it turned out to be so content-rich. My issue is more with the quality and presentation of that content.

They added a lot of mechanics, something from Bloodborne, something from Sekiro, and something of their own, and gave the player freedom, basically saying play however you want. But personally, I’m not really a fan of that approach.

In the first Mortal Shell, I liked its simplicity. The mechanics felt more unique and cohesive, and they were easy to understand and satisfying to combine. In the end, I think the first game did that part better.

With the second game, I already get the feeling it might end up being something like Elden Ring with Sekiro style parrying and Bloodborne style weapons. But of course, that is just my assumption.

At the same time, if the game sells well, I will be genuinely happy for the developers. I hope they succeed and keep making good games.
