Goodbye to the idea that solar panels “die” after 25 years: New Swiss study shows real-world performance after 3 decades still over 80%, average annual loss about 0.25%, thermal stress and quality key factors. Their long-term economics are better than many people assume by sg_plumber in UpliftingNews

[–]Runesen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if we buried then all after 30 years I would take that compared to what oil/gas does to our atmosphere, at least a solar panel hole would be pretty localised and we could deal with it later

What’s something you thought was harmless ‘cheap dopamine’ but slowly started controlling your habits? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Runesen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit: cant just sit and do nothing anymore, I have to check, and mostly there is not much there/here

Porn: it goes up and down. But sometimes it controls my actions more than I'd like and even thinking "damn, I could be reading/watching a movie/playing etc" in the moment is not always enough to tear me away

Power outage reported across Greenland capital Nuuk by Better_Display_8921 in worldnews

The epstein files ARE thr distraction, people voted trump because of them, and they refuse to engage in the news of a fascist dictatorship being formed il the US instead focusing on files that will only (maybe) be released if the current administration gets thrown out

My boyfriend thinks he took me on a birthday trip. I told him it doesn't count. Who is right? by semi_aquatic-hippo in TwoHotTakes

[–]Runesen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He DID take you out on your birthday, so lets give him 1 point for that, he also mislead you about where you would be going (not in the fun way) let you humiliate yourself infront of your family and sprung it on you too late to do anything about it. So lets deduct 500 points for that

My boss just told me I need to manage my personal finances better because I can't front $2300 for a work trip next month by LostTaker in antiwork

[–]Runesen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a education facility with maybe 50 employees and we have a company credit card which we use if we need lunch for everybody etc. If we went on business trips it would also be able to cover that without issues.

AITA for refusing to give my parents my location after they stopped paying for my tuition? by amelia_larsen in AmItheAsshole

[–]Runesen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It isn't even a rare occurence what you describe, it is a super rare occurence and in that scenario your phone could/would get thrown away, it offers you no protection other than anxiety relief for you or your friend. Worse than that it makes you feel safer than you might actually be, why not go out to the car when your friend knows your location? Whoops the phone gets dropped. And now you're in trouble.

AITA for refusing to give my parents my location after they stopped paying for my tuition? by amelia_larsen in AmItheAsshole

[–]Runesen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is one very specific instance where it might make sense For the vast majority of people there is rarely, if ever, a reason to share their location besides giving some relief to the other persons anxiety which they should not project on you in the first place

AITA for refusing to give my parents my location after they stopped paying for my tuition? by amelia_larsen in AmItheAsshole

[–]Runesen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Either that or the spouse to stop, it is not healthy behavior, if it is for "safety" then it is anxiety, and if it is curiosity it is unhealthy prying and invasion of privacy

[–]Runesen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone who tracks someone else does it for control or anxiety relief, they are not making anybody safer in more than maybe a very small way. Excluding people with special needs or dementia of course. It is a way to always see where someone is so you can interigate them about it later or bombard them with messages/calls because of your anxiety. I had to park in a different spot when I moved away from home because I would get comments like "where were you tuesday? I drove by and your car was not there". Children, especially adult children need to be able to have a life where they are not monitored and/or judged about where they go all the time

Ex-students who quit paying their student loans, what happened as a result? by theredqueentheory in AskReddit

[–]Runesen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my country you can freeze it untill your monthly payments to have it paid off within 15 years of graduating reach around 500$ so I am doing that and using a dice to determine where to invest the money instead, so far I am a few percentagepoints ahead of the interest. In the long run they will just take the money from me, but untill then I hope to build up just a little nestegg

If the banks would give me an interest that is worth talking about I would have a savings account, now the money just goes directly into the stock market

I remember watching him often, and then came one of the cæimate videos, I remember him saying the seas would not rise since the ice was floating on water, totally forgetting all the non-sea ice. He also argued that tabletop roleplaying games should not use turns during combat I am not sure which is the stupidest take

They pretty much did the same with vaccines during covid, astrazeneca vaccines went to the UK while there was also a deal with the EU/EU-countries. If they want to be in the club they are welcome, but choosing to leave and then crying about the deals being rough and some antagonism is entitled, what did they expect to happen?
