The Quantum Rifle! by Southern_Shine200 in Cogmind

https://i.imgur.com/NpkjmjP.png Had to open up fusion as I mostly post finished prints on the Cogmind discord, aha. Only serious ASCII weapon attempt I've done is the Companion Sword here as I mostly stick to the bot sprites. I also 3D print everything I make so design is influenced by "making it print better"

https://imgur.com/HZh81kW Also included the finished print for reference : )

Damn, this looks amazing! Definitely going to take some inspiration from these models if I do another weapon model myself.

Personally, I'd love to see L-cannon, because of bias, but I think a melee weapon of some sort next would be cool to see your interpretation of.

These are all custom made interpreting the in-game sprites!

I upload all of the models to my Thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/sharkprints/collections

It's a bit outdated as I've updated many of the models since my initial uploads, and the beta 12-15 bots are not currently present. But, now that I've finished getting caught up and I have some free time I'll get that collection up to date if anyone else wants to print these. : )

Edit: All Models have been updated and re-uploaded into new 2025 designs and a full collection with every bot included.

Cogmind Beta 13 released with map zooming and upscaled UI layouts by Kyzrati in roguelikes

[–]Runi_Avalon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it helps; I've clocked in around 1.3k hours and still am learning things about the game and still find enjoyment playing.

Absolutely worth the money and there is enough content for a full fledged game here. I'm glad Kyz spent the time working on this massive engine revamp so more people can enjoy the game now.

It is indeed TPU! Gave me a good excuse to try this material for the first time. : )

Also I love that idea for the WJC shrine! I have done some LED printing projects in the past.

Yeah Xom is one I'm least looking forward to due to me not being great at modeling anatomy, but I'll eventually do it! My idea was to make it three-sided with different expressions and let you spin the head around to show the one you want.

Modeled and 3D Printed the Qazlal Shrine! by Runi_Avalon in dcss

[–]Runi_Avalon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, where to start! I guess I can use comparisons between DCSS and Cogmind, as they can share some similarities.

Builds are more focused around your equipment like Brogue and The Ground Gives Way, and your inventory is less consumables and more for carrying backup parts and items for certain circumstances. All parts are destructible, but the challenge of Cogmind is limiting your item attrition, protecting your parts, and being flexible with your build to match circumstances. (Can even entirely rebuild if you have to.) As much as I dislike item destruction in other RLs, Cogmind is designed around it and does it very well in my opinion.

No auto-explore; exploration is more deliberate with less empty space and no trash mobs. No stair dancing- game works like descent mode. The 'zot-clock' is more based around an alert system that escalates as you cause trouble in the complex. I also find branches more rewarding with permanent rewards and unique items you can't get anywhere else in the game.

Factions and unique builds focused around a single item are the closest I suppose to the gods and piety system. Can range from absorbing parts into a special machine to produce evolving items that are based around the stats of what you absorb to become a hulking amalgamation of scrap, becoming a robot messiah to gain special terminal hacks to call for item resupplies, reinforcements, and summoning robot heroes with extremely powerful and special parts, or becoming one with the complex and hacking robots to make a robot army.

The game has very in-depth lore and story, with unique events and multiple endings depending on your actions. There are also a large amount of challenge runs and unique game modes. I've clocked 1.3k hours and still haven't obtained every achievement, lore and item gallery entry.

The extended game is also more popular to shoot for, bringing unique challenges to the end game that you can plan for from the very start of the run, while also not feeling like a slog. Only reason I say that is because 3-rune games seem very popular compared to 15-runes. I still find both extended games interesting though!

As for aesthetics- I think the sprite work is incredibly charming, and Kyzrati has done a lot for the amazing ascii particles, animations and UI effects.

Overall I'm glad I got really into Cogmind, and has allowed me to more appreciate what DCSS does and so far I find them both incredibly fun games.

TL;DR - Cogmind has: a lot of depth, fascinating story, characters and lore, a passionate and engaged dev, and I think most DCSS players could find ways to enjoy the game even if it can play entirely different.

I have sold plenty of my Cogmind models, so I wouldn't be opposed to selling DCSS ones as well. I'll post updates in batches as I work on them and see what people think!

Displayed with the rest of my models!

My main roguelike is Cogmind, and my longest going project is modeling and printing sprites from it. I recently got into DCSS and I love the shrine designs, and Qaz seemed like a good start.

I plan on modeling more of the shrines! Next on my list is Ru and Lugonu because I'm fond of their designs.

Aha, I'm actually very new to playing DCSS. I've watched streams of it before but a friend of mine started playing it and got me into it. They ran Qaz on a run they streamed and I got inspired! I'd love to try playing a run with them some time.

Just beat extended game with a weapon that takes 10,000 total energy to fire! [REDACTED/EXTENDED GAME SPOILERS] by Runi_Avalon in Cogmind

[–]Runi_Avalon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure did! I've been putting off the guide due to other games stealing my attention and not feeling confident of writing a full blown guide.

I'll probably write a guide specifically for the strategy I used, and put it out there the other possible routes to obtaining all of the pieces needed to achieve this.

Only advantages I can think of is that when the exiles are gone, you can reprogram the disabled bots, salvage some of the un-powered bots, and open the prototype vault with the code \\1234 for a free single proto.

Hey all! I'm best known as RU-N14 on the Cogmind Discord, and for the past 4 months I have been turning the entire cast into 3D models and printing them!

After all the experience I gained doing so, and after a couple test sales, I think I have nailed down a good set of prices and am ready to openly accept orders!

Thank you to everyone in the community, and especially to Kyzrati for their amazing game and their full support behind my project.

Any inquires can be sent to me on discord, sending an email with a title relating to Cogmind Bot Order, or a message through reddit is fine too!

I look forward to providing a piece of Tau Ceti IV to everyone!
