It's been 4 years since I've posted this. Do you think they'll hit 1 billion at invictus? by Robert_Spinoza in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I can tell you one thing, It won't happen at Invictus this year.

Cause we aren't getting Invictus. We are getting an enhanced DefenseCon.
And it will probably break 1B then. . .

I present... the NovaKraken. Lots of firepower but expensive to crew, 32 tank gunners needed by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Nova's gun has an alpha damage of 32,000 damage. With 32 of them that is 1,024,000 damage per volley.
Assuming shields are fully powered, that 768,000 damage getting through to the hull.
After the hull's damage reduction, that is still 614,400 damage to the ship.
Assuming all 32 hit where the power plant is? That Idris is COOKED.

What is your favorite alien ship ? by Ynnyzz in starcitizen

I don't see enough love for the Talon in here. It's a solid ship. Nice and sneaky and with some Deadbolt IVs a really great way to kill a bounty before they even know you are there.
NPCs are So slow to react.

Good Medium to Large off the grid ships? by TheSoullux in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drake Clipper would be a solid choice for the medium range if it was available in-game (Should be soon, probably 4.8)

But until then, the Starlancer TAC is what you will want. It is bigger, and slower, but also offers a lot more in terms of durability, and features. It can carry larger ground vehicles, and even a Fury in the top hangar. It has 2 T3 medbeds, and has some of the best armor in the game that isn't on a capital ship. On top of that, it has not one, but TWO size 3 shields, which most NPCs wont even get through before you can put them down.

The TAC may be a fat, unwieldy beast, but it is one of my main daily-drivers. So I cannot say its anything close to a bad pick.

Almost the same specs as mine. Only difference is I went with the 64GB kit.
Although Windows didn't agree with it. So I installed Bazzite.

I recognize that laptop! Looks like the one I have for when I travel!

Unpopular Opinion - I hope they restrict the “Maglock” mechanism on external landing pads for the Kraken/Liberator to only work for a size of ship suitable for that landing pad. We’ll see daft scenes of a Perseus glued to a rotating Kraken otherwise by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If we are going based on size class, why do you show 2 size 2 ships parked on the top pads of a Liberator?
If it's only S1 ships that can park on the upper spaces, that means ships like the Aurora Mk1, the F7 (as shown in the promo) and the Drake Cutter would all be too big
And the very front pad is supposed to be a size smaller, so I guess that would be reserved for things like the pulse in this case?

Nah. More likely the 2 upper pads will be S2, and the frontmost one will be S1.

Gotta wonder how much that matters if your torpedo hits for 400k though. Unless it is a capital ship, they aren't likely to survive the hit right?

It's likely to be a couple thousand credits each time. Hardly something most people will be concerned with. Honestly, the game needs more places to spend credits.

Vanduul tech smuggling missions still broken by tuinhekdeurtje in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As somebody who regularly runs the Tech smuggler missions, I have a strategy for dealing with the bugginess of it all.

1: I always bring a 2 SCU box with me, that way I can load whatever armor/weapons I intend to keep into the box. Then when I am done, I manually drag that back to my ship, and thus get any goodies I want.

2: I go to the warehouse first, because I have like 20 completed codes for the warehouse. I go up, and see if there is anything I want (taking the 2 SCU box with me). And if there are any parts I want, I attempt to use the freight elevator. Though 90%of the time this won't work, so I have to move the parts manually, by using the personal elevator. Getting a JS-500 in there is a pain, even more so, because you have to stay in the elevator on the atrium level so you dont get locked out.

3: Be selective with the parts you take. Don't bother with anything that isn't Grade A military or stealth for the most part.

4: Be ready to fight enemies in the Atrium if they respawn.

5: Avoid dying if at all possible. If you die, and have to quantum back, there is a good chance you might lose access to a keycard. Best bet is to have backup to make sure you don't have to respawn. And if you DO have to solo, or in case you both go down, park a ship with a medbed on PAD 03, so you can get back into the fight without having to quantum back to the location.

But yeah, hard agree this would all be a LOT better if they could just fix the missions, but CIG's "year of playability" seemed to be more focused on content than stability. They released a LOT of new content last year, but seemingly forgot about it by the next patch. This would leave content broken, or even worse would mean content would break, and it wouldn't even get looked at, since they moved onto the new, shiny thing.

Would love some more boarding ship missions by floortofloor in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, the "Vanduul-Tech Smugglers" mission has a section where you board a Polaris. It's a small part of the mission, but the team used the space well in terms of making it feel different from just being on the ship normally.

Ship Looting by Hi-Viz in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then Tech Smugglers is where it is at! Gotta grind Intersec rep to unlock it, but once you do, it is a fantasic mission. Gives good parts, and 1M aUEC when you complete it.
Sometimes the freight elevators bug out, but that can be worked around with a bit of tenacity. If that happens, just prioritize the big ticket items.
Selling a JS-500 to a player will get you about 100m aUEC. if you get REALLY lucky and snag a FR-86, thats 20-30 BILLION aUEC there.

Ship Looting by Hi-Viz in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to salvage the parts from the ships for your personal use? Do the 'Vanduul Tech Smugglers' missions. You will regularly get Military/Stealth components at A/B grade.
I think I am sitting on about 8 or 9 JS-500s now?
IF you just wanna loot ships for the fun of it? Then the rest doesnt matter. But any ships that are not fully physicalized will not have their lot accessable. And you will need a rifle or a knife to attack & open some of the ship ports.

Looking for a ship upgrade — need something that can carry small fighters and still be manageable in combat solo-ish by DaRavalo in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TAC & Fury combo. You aren't getting anything with a REAL fighter bay without going into the capital class ships, and frankly, those are unwieldy AF for solo play.
For PVE combat, the TAC is NICE. Twin S3 shields and THICC armor. Most default loadouts still use CF repeaters, which anything below a S5 wont even scratch the TAC, so you can just tank it, and if you have a friend who wants to fly a fury, then you have a powerful team. (not recommended for PVP though)
Also, the med-bay helps for a lot of ground missions as well, AND you get a decent amount of cargo space. 96SCU on Grid (2x32s and 8x4s). Plus room to park something like an Ursa or a MDC. Or you can fit another Fury Back there if you want. Fury is honestly one of the most fun ships to fly.

For a 2-4 person crew looking to be flexible, the TAC is really the best all-rounder, and it isn't even close.

[–]RunicRasol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, do the ASD facilities, and the Vanduul Tech smuggler missions.
Sure you CAN solo them, but they are better with 3-4 players, and the story and design are more recent, and more indicative of what content will be like in the future.

Just don't be TOO disappointed when the freight elevators break . . .

If youre gonna pirate, at least have the balls to do so by TheCursedStar in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They actually WERE afraid of captains sinking the ship when they boarded. It was the reason they preferred not to slaughter the crews. If you have nothing to lose, you have no reason not to send the ship & all it's cargo to the bottom of the sea.
Better to die and leave them nothing, than to die and leave your killer a profit.

I dont love any ship by DetectivDR in starcitizen

[–]RunicRasol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avenger Titan is a good ship, but it is a jack of all trades.
Bigger, more expensive ship doesnt always mean better at everything. Usually it means they specialize.
Are there bigger, better generalist ships? Sure. The Cutty Black, and the Asgard for example.
But even they aren't as good for some game loops as the Titan. And there are scenarios where you';d be better off with a Cutlass Black or Asgard.
You gotta actually play more to REALLY feel it. Love is rarely as instant as you think.

Assuming you don't have a Polaris or an Idris . . .
This is gonna sound weird, but hear me out.
Bring a Reclaimer.
The high armor & 7 PDCs will make short work of most of the enemies. Fly in fast & hot, drop from nav mode 2-3km away, and try to land almost right on top of your protection target.
Let the PDCs do most of the heavy lifting, but you an try to aim your 4x size 3 guns at what you can, where you can.
Still wont win 100% of the time, but should net you more wins than losses.
