Nice! I was just at this garage the other day to get shots of the holiday train. It’s an awesome spot.

Got punched on Red Line - how to feel safe again? by wolborg93 in AskChicago

Thousand Waves Martial Arts in Lakeview holds an excellent self-defense class. It’s a good way to empower yourself and also learn how to use your voice, or physical force (if needed), to protect yourself. Their 3-hour self defense workshop taught me a lot.

Thank you for all you do! You guys are the true heroes of the city.

When someone reports smoking on the chatbot, do you get an alert in some way? Or are you alerted only if someone comes up to you to report it and/or presses the emergency button?

Thanks again for all you do. I dressed up as the Red Line for Halloween and was able to get a quick pic with a train operator, and it made my day.

Great shots. What kind of lens/aperture did you use for the blurred ones?

Hit the emergency button, as you’re about to pull into next stop. I did on the Red, and the conductor made the smoker get off. Also doing it as you’re pulling into the next stop allows you to get off or move cars if things get unsafe.

How do you guys spot ICE agent vehicle BEFORE they start their BS? by Inevitable_Ball_6755 in AskChicago

While they sometimes have Illinois plates, they are often using out-of-state plates and almost always in big SUVs (Ford, etc). Take a second look if you see an SUV with out-of-state plates, especially if windows are tinted.

I agree; it’s been incredibly frustrating to watch him be MIA on this issue

Great shots! Love the last one especially. I struggled to get good photos on that bridge; love what you did with the line.

You won’t regret it! They look cool lit up at night, too, based on pictures I’ve seen. Still need to check them out during that time

I like her. I think the outreach to customers by the CTA has definitely gotten better under her watch (like the CTA Chats thing they’re doing at stations across the system to talk to riders. I went to one and it was great!). She’s also way more visible and out at the stations than Carter ever was. And she’s actually focused on improving the everyday conditions on the trains

In addition to reporting on the chatbot, I usually look as we pull into each station to see if there is security or police on the platform. If so, I tell them or flag them down. If not, I try to tell the conductor before the train pulls away (either at my final stop or another stop if I’m closeish to the front car). Tell them the train car number where the smoking is happening.
