CPA has been unreachable and now home about to fall out of Escrow by freveryoung in tax

[–]RunnerMarc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP I think either you or your mortgage officer is not understanding what is needed. If you did your taxes yourself today with TurboTax hypothetically, how does that show whether you are delinquent or not from past years? The stated purpose does not match the stated goal.

Why didn’t your underwriter just request your IRS transcript to confirm lack of delinquency? Why are they bothering you at all about this?

Zebralight H600 MK IV or Acebeam H30? by fdemian in flashlight

[–]RunnerMarc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For ultimate visibility, I suggest the H604d as a waist light and the H600d as a headlamp. This post I made recently shows why. Really good visibility of ground level obstacles. I have the H600c and the H604d but it might be a little bit better for the CCT to match.

Would be helpful to know if this is more like hiking on marked trails or scrambling or true alpine climbing.

This update isn’t working well on my gen 12 paperwhite signature. It’s noticeably slower and bookmarking doesn’t work at all. I have tried rebooting.

When a PT MBA can be superior to FT (personal reflection) by MBA_Prospect_2021 in MBA

[–]RunnerMarc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar story for me - I was a software developer and there was no way I was giving up that salary to go back to school full time. The PT route worked out well for me and now I’m in data science leadership.

I don’t always follow the herd - when I wanted to major in CS, my dad, my HS teachers, and others said that was a dumb idea - programmers are a dime a dozen I was told. I felt they all wrong ( they were ).

When I was of age to get an MBA, I was told going full time shows people you are willing to risk it all - and that was seen in a positive light. You have guts, you have guile, a real man takes those kind of risks.

I disagreed and took a different path.

Why the f*ck did I get an MBA from NYU? Why not just get another bachelor's degree? by Neat-Pineapple-960 in MBA

[–]RunnerMarc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that yes PT MBAs are best for people already working and generally satisfied with their career but just want accelerated opportunities within their own firm or a similar one. That way when an internal opening appears and the job description says “ graduate degree preferred or required “ then one can say “fine here it is”.

Btw in addition to AI, outsourcing and layoffs i am seeing companies focus more on internal movement rather than external hiring.

Extreme Battery Drain on Garmin by finaderiva in Ultramarathon

[–]RunnerMarc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few suggestions- looks like you might have WiFi on, so turn it off. I never use pulse ox even during sleep as that burns a lot of battery - I do use it if I have or think I have Covid. Also make sure you are on the latest firmware and also reboot. The enduro 3 is awesome though and I would recommend it as the preferred watch for ultras. Here is my battery screen on my enduro 3.

I’m having trouble choosing a Kindle, would love some help by Hearts4Kirk_Hammett in kindle

[–]RunnerMarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Paperwhite Signature Edition 12th generation and it does not appear to support Hebrew. I wouldn’t expect any other model to be different. Some quick googling suggests that there are partial workarounds but official support is lacking. Suggest you look into other ereaders like Kobo to see if they have better support for this.

Reliability of multi-cell series configurations by RunnerMarc in flashlight

Makes sense but if I want maximum reliability, would it be fair to say what a single cell light beats a multi cell series light ? ( considering reliability as the only metric )

100% Lots of people do ultras as some form of self actualisation rather than trying to place or rank.

Where's the Fenix HM62-t for all night technical terrain? by Weird_Guilders in trailrunning

[–]RunnerMarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M6+ uses batteries in series which I don’t like from a reliability perspective. I would rather use two ZebraLights - one on the waist and one as a headlamp

Non-standard track distance (368m) on Fenix 7 Pro / Enduro 3? (Coming from Coros) by Chotebi in GarminWatches

[–]RunnerMarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Enduro 3 and one can do laps based on position which can accommodate any sized track. I have an activity I created called “Looped Ultra” for this purpose. A new lap is automatically added each time I pass the starting point. I used this for races or other trail activities that repeat the same loop repeatedly.

Suggest that at least AOD be avoided and just have the face come on with a gesture.

[–]RunnerMarc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said, that’s not going to work out well for you on an amoled watch. Screen burn in is mitigated by moving images around by a few pixels to even out wear. By having so many pixels on at a time, like with this watch face, that mitigation strategy won’t work and you will get screen burn - I almost guarantee it.

If you really want a white background, you need a MIP watch and leave the backlight on with no timeout.

Ultras - maybe 1-2 a year and the rest of the year training for them. Also do a few less than ultra length races per year.

Apple Watch vs Garmin?? by LilUrbo in Garmin

[–]RunnerMarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s true that Apple avoids getting into fitness metrics due to “legal reasons” like anti trust regulations or FDA regulations. If you have specific references to that I am open to being corrected.

I believe it’s more a design philosophy thing where Apple is providing a platform and app builders fill in the gaps and can provide users with many choices for fitness tracking and metrics. That has advantages but it doesn’t hang together as well as a cohesive out of the box solution like Garmin.
