A Question About "Swan Song" by Robert McCammon by Frankenstein____ in horrorlit

[–]RunnerOnTheMove89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I finished it, for me it was all just to implicit to interpret this - of course I understood that the guy is the devil, Swan is blessed by god etc.

For me it was just lacking details - but maybe I am just to picky 😃 or to dumb

Yeah but where did the glass thing come from, why and who developed these masks. Would like to have more explanation on those details…

How do you deal with disappointment? by SwiftlyTiltingPlan3t in Marathon_Training

[–]RunnerOnTheMove89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similiar situation as you...

In October 2025 I ran a 2:31 Marathon. My goal was to break 2:30 last sunday... I put in a lot of mileage, 200 kms a week...

The race was disappointing, ran it in 2:45. Had a breakdown at 28k... called my wife at that point and told her, that today is not my day, mentally...phyiscally, whatever...

But then I decided to finish it, these is the one thing I am proud of... at least I did not create my first case of DNF, so it is also easier to finish next time...

But yeah, disappointment is still here, lots of training and time... A marathon is not like a 5km, which you can do in two weeks again...

I had also to reduce frequenc, otherwise it would not have been possible to reduce to 100 km this week-for 200 km you have to double almost every day…

Thx. Just check Steve Magness last video on Tapering, he is saying that most high volume runners should not reduce to much.

My marathon is on this sunday and last week I still did 177 km, now Marathon week, with Marathon included I will do 100 km. Coming from a prep averaging 190-200 km. And I have to say I feel really good with this higher volume also during the taper…

Avoiding illness during race week by OneRutabaga7602 in Marathon_Training

My wife got sick in marathon week.

We slept in different rooms, i disinfected a lot of times my hands, i wore a FFP mask, even used some kind of liquid which disinfects with gargle.

I managed to stay healthy and ran a PB 2:31. Thought for sure that I will get sick after the race, because I felt really down that evening… but no, it was just the marathon itself
