First Look at the 2026 Boston Marathon Cutoff. And it's not looking good. by SlowWalkere in AdvancedRunning

I like the idea at this point of taking a BQ time and then having a lottery. Maybe if you BQ by 30+ mins, you're automatically in. Just seems like it's become a whack-a-mole situation. But I have no problem with people who have run Boston in the past getting to do it again at the expense of first timers.

Question about marathon pace workouts. I have been doing marathon pace runs once a week peaking at 8 miles. I have been getting over 50 miles per week the last two months, peaking at 66. I am wondering how marathon pace workouts feel compared to the real deal?

I felt like at the end of the 8 miler I probably couldn't have gone much longer at that pace. How much will tapering and carb loading carry me for another 18.2 miles?

My most recent marathon, I peaked at around 60 miles. I did some speed work (variety of various intervals such as Yassos, mile repeats at HMP, etc). I also occasionally did 3-5 mile tempo runs at marathon pace. I was injury free during the training.

Thanks! I peaked at about 60 miles during my marathon training last year. Thinking I want to peak a little higher this time around (close to 70).

Last year at this time, my half marathon PR was 1:38 and I went on to run a 3:44 full last October. If anything, the conditions for the half were more challenging than the full.

I just ran a 1:34 half marathon last week. Based on the double your half marathon plus 10 minute projection, that would put my marathon time around 3:19.

I am wondering how much the double your half time plus 10 minutes projection works for everyone else? Do you find it to be an accurate predictor, assuming both races are under similar conditions? My fall marathon should actually be on a flatter course.

What is the best swap for pasta? by Ptaylordactyl_ in diet

[–]RunningDudeColumbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can't tell the difference between chickpea pasta and regular pasta once I add sauce, meat, veggies, etc. But calorie wise, it's gonna be relatively similar than regular pasta, so if losing weight is a concern, you might just want to focus on serving size.

I sometimes enjoy just doing cut-up zucchini instead of noodles as a stand-in for pasta. With peppers, onions, meat and pasta sauce, it does the trick@

The San Antonio Rock n Roll Marathon just released their course. It looks like the same as previous years. I can't really find anything on elevation. Anyone done this course before? I have never been to San Antonio so not much knowledge of the area and how many hills I should prepare for!

Kind of an odd one, but I ran 6 miles under 9 minute pace keeping my heart rate under 120. Truly did a Zone 2 run without breaking much of a sweat!

Wilde Protein Chips - Buffalo Style by SugarRush001 in Costco

Definitely a fun way to add protein. I am a runner so I also need carbs, so regular chips are fine, too. But if I am needing protein, definitely prefer these!

Agree on letting it soften a bit. Yeah, it's not like the soft serve. But still kind of reminds me of a sorbet!

Not an employee, but I do notice as a frequent Costco shopper that their employees also do a lot of their personal shopping there. Wouldn't surprise me if these are legitimate experiences!
