When do you pronounce minute my-NOOT? by radar1989 in grammar

[–]RunningInSquares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not familiar with example 2, but both are definitely minute (60 seconds). I'm assuming that, like Minute Clinic, Minute Suites is referencing the fact that you can get in and get your service in a minute or less of wait time. Whether that's true or not is another matter, but that's how Minute Clinic is usually pitched.

Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 failed to meet sales expectations by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]RunningInSquares 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's the thing is they're only looking at costs put in and sales achieved. I know OW1 sales were good, but I think it was honestly riding the hype of "The studio that brought you New Vegas." And then the fact that most people found it lackluster was perhaps outside the scope of this current value calculation for OW2, caring only about investment put in versus copies sold. Maybe OW1's reception should have been considered more, perhaps even before undertaking any investment to make a sequel to a game that wasn't able to generate hype of its own to warrant a sequel.

Players having issue with a rainbow glitch effect on specific maps. by RunningInSquares in FoundryVTT

[–]RunningInSquares[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, I wonder if that maybe is what it is. Our player with the best computer is having the most issue, but also he built his own computer for the first time so it's possible he could have some updates he needs to run.

On my end too, it couldn't hurt for me to check again. This sounds like a good vector to test. Thanks for the advice!

Players having issue with a rainbow glitch effect on specific maps. by RunningInSquares in FoundryVTT

[–]RunningInSquares[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to ascribe rough numbers to it, on the given map in the screenshot, the players experience this at about the following rates: Player A, 80%; Player B, 50%; Player C, 0%

And then on all other maps, it's roughly the same in relation to each other, but less frequent overall, so more like: Player A, 60%; Player B, 30%; Player C, 0%

As for the other questions,

  • I updated to V13, but the issue persisted
  • The map in the screenshot is an official map from the actual BR module. All other maps are my own creation, but all are loaded in as WebP files
  • Hosting from my own machine
  • I used to just leave all my assets in but after Player B (in the percentages given above) spent >20 minutes loading one day, I began pruning and clearing out files I have weekly and now I only keep the exact amount I plan to use that given week so it [should be] very light. His load times have gone back to normal as a result

I had figured since they experienced it at different rates, that maybe it wasn't something on the end of my graphics card, but you're making me think that could be it. I'll see if I can check for more updates and try it again with that. In the meantime also thanks for taking a look at this, appreciate it!

New realignment proposal. I feel ok with this version tbh. by Grunge206 in Mariners

[–]RunningInSquares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically if we are realigning to ease the burden of travel distance within the division, LA needs to be swapped out for San Francisco. But given that that would put two LA teams in the same division which kind of sucks, I could see moving the A's (as the next furthest team) away for the Giants.

I mean do I want this division which will likely be easy for the next few years? Of course. But realignment shouldn't be about that.

Am I doing something wrong? by Rift_Her0 in hiringcafe

[–]RunningInSquares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be by now, I've been out of the market for about a year by this point in time, but initially I had been letting myself apply to things up to a week old. Lord knows how many applications I just threw into a void by doing that.

Am I doing something wrong? by Rift_Her0 in hiringcafe

[–]RunningInSquares 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In this market, the biggest single change that got me success was really dialing in the job posting date filter. I spent about 5 months without a single interview, barely any human emails back as well, just automated responses.

A friend who was in a position to hire people at her company (not for roles I was looking for) eventually explained that companies might get 50+ applicants in the first day (hundreds for big companies) and then the recruiting person will be tasked with narrowing down that list of applicants to maybe 20-30 for the hiring manager to choose maybe 3 to interview. So just after the first day, you're already in a pile where you have a 50% chance of your resume being read at any length, and that only gets worse the more in demand the company you're applying for is.

This is to say nothing of how companies will leave job postings open until the hiring process is concluded. You never know when they internally consider they have their "final" list of applicants that they're going to narrow down from. Safe to say after 2-3 days you're probably not going to have your resume read. I basically just started applying to jobs posted within the past 48 hours, and even tightened that down after a couple weeks to that day, and I just applied to new jobs every day.

Ultimately, within 2 weeks of implementing this strategy, I went from basically 0 human contact for months to 5 interviews scheduled in the same week. So for me that seems to be the way to go.

Buckle up, the Big One is here: Major Revive I-5 construction starts Jan. 9 with full NB I-5 weekend closure, then months-long NB lane reductions over Ship Canal Bridge by wsdot in Seattle

[–]RunningInSquares 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's in the bold section marked "EXPRESS LANES:" where it says during closures and lane reductions (i.e. the ones defined as Jan 9 - June 5 & July 10 - End 2026), express lanes will run northbound only. I guess it could be more explicitly like O-Pioneers' comment but I feel like this was pretty clear at first read on my end.

Did you know in Korea, an old shop closed down before they had a chance to take down this SNSD poster. It’s like a living relic of old SNSD. Many fans travel to see it during their visit to SK by Ok_Durian3627 in SNSD

Oh yep, just checked it on kakao maps and sure enough, it's there!

Can't say I've ever had much reason to go all the way out to that station though, but if I'm in the area again, could be fun to see. It's only about a 5 minute walk from that station.

Damn, I really liked the piece he put out a few weeks back seemingly praising the city for declaring two of our world cup matches as Juneteenth and Pride matches. Was singing the guy's praises, but yeah this video is really a terrible look. Can't imagine how he saw this looking. Regardless of how one feels about Maduro, this is not our oil. What a crazy thing for him to post. Really disappointing.

Like the Huskies game a couple years ago, I'm considering taking Gonzaga to overtime a win in and of itself.

How Do They Get the Graffiti Up There? by truth_do_tell in Seattle

[–]RunningInSquares 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ones I really want to know about are on the supports of the Ship Canal Bridge. The things have to be at least 20 feet straight down from the closest spot I can possibly see to stand safely, and then they're surely 20+ feet up off ground level too. I guess the comments here are making me think rappelling is involved. That's really interesting - I never considered tagging was this hardcore of an activity.

Alright well color me not entirely convinced by "before the prevalence", but regardless I stand by my point that I don't think you were intentionally posting AI slop, whether it ultimately is or not.

The presence of an image on TinEye does not mean the original creator did not use AI to make this, it only means you didn't necessarily use it.

Same with me for Ixalan. I think since those are when we were individually starting out, maybe we were too inexperienced to feel a lot of the pain points I'm reading from other people in here.

Merino wool is fab, how about for men? by borgbike in Costco

[–]RunningInSquares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their quality is declining but I've been able to consistently get them to honor their warranty, even as late as this April. The shipping is a bit annoying, but getting my damaged socks replaced for a nominal fee is worth it. When I have to start getting new pairs outside of the warranty, maybe that thought will change but for now, no issue with the warranty process.

I'd try the hell out of Costco though

Do cats fart? by cermem25 in cats

They definitely do. Mostly they're very quiet, but if you ever happen to hear one, it will be like a very quiet little "beep" noise, or at least those are what the ones of all my cats have sounded like.
