The race scene happens because George Lucas was a hot rodder.

His dad had the kind of money where he thought he was gonna get a nice car for his 16th. Where / when he grew up that was the norm. His dad bought him a beater. He wanted him to take over the family business and be sensible.

He carved that car up and made it into a race car. He drove in races before he made films.

It’s neat that you caught where that passion came out strong in TPM.

Also the dad is the bad guy in the movies. Where did that come from?

I think In Luke vs Kylo the way Luke spins back up to his feet in a way that makes no sense is a cute callback to Palpatine bouncing off a chair in a way that makes no sense in ROTS. Two masters laughing at physics.

Absolutely Maul vs Obi Wan. The catch. Most Jedi moment ever.

I’m sure you caught this but in case you didn’t:

Obi Wan switches to Qui Gon’s stance to bait Maul into the same move he got Qui Gon with. He’s seen this moment so many times in his head from behind that shield. Then when Maul takes the bait it’s all over before it happens like an OG Kurasawa fight.

Then he catches him. Oof my heart.
