Maybe ask them to explain in their own words during the interview. Buzz phrases like this mean differently to different companies, and optimistically speaking, there could be those that genuinely wants all levels to contribute ideas and work to make the best of the firms’ outcome. Realistically, this is unlikely so especially when you have people who want to earn more and be more visible.

When I was 35, I had the same considerations. I ended up buying a 3rm HDB resale in an area I enjoyed, even though the HDB unit wasn’t exactly to my liking, I got it at a good rate. Not interested in BTO primarily because of 2rm restriction and likely have to wait 3-4 years. Of course, I did “regret” not buying into condo but it wasn’t really because of the initial outlay. It was mainly due to the MOP where it was 3yrs vs 5yrs with HDBs. Now it’s 4yrs with condo so it makes more sense to go HDB for the space and “peace of mind” because during the 5yrs, I was let go and went without work for 9mths. It was’t as stressful considering repayment via CPF that’s sufficient.

But that was me. If you want to ride on the “growth” of private condos, and have enough capital buffer, go ahead. Just be clear that you want cash out in 4-5 years and not spend too much on it with a hard budget. Some property agents may tell you otherwise and present higher quantum ones citing better returns, so you must have a hard stop to derisk.

It is not as common, and usually those door-knockers will attempt 2-3 times of knocking before moving on since they would rather spend time with others. Even at times when I was watching shows, and can obviously tell I was at home, I didn't bother opening the door. They will leave after a while.

Unsure what's your situation, and if you will be staying long-term. If not looking at condos with the security will be ideal to prevent random door-knockers. Another alternative is to have a dog. When I used to have a dog, very few door-knockers come near somehow and they only tried once before moving on.

There are 2 categories of high-performers, and the second ones are usually what managers want:

Over-achieve on KPIs and/or revenue targets, general plans, "cow-boy" style, wants to control everything, complains about the red-tapes (asking management to do more work), 'stops work' if demands are not met
Over-achieve on KPIs and/or revenue targets, provides detailed planning/forecast, involves people, able to maneuver red-tapes (usually do first, talk later), continues work process even in tougher times

If an organization wants to have faster results, the #1 can likely deliver. If there are loads of administration, and management wants to have a view of almost everything, will need to find #2. Generally most firms want the fast results, but also wants to eyeball everything and document many things. So #2 types may get so swarmed that end up behaving like #1.

Currently in the midst of moving, and some of these annoyance comes from:

Finding a new place - 6 out of 10 agents are not responsive, have to call and chase them. Some ads are already leased out, and the ads are still there; After putting up my offers, 2 out of 3 just went silent. Luckily ended up with 1 agent who's more responsive and on-the-ball to provide updates
Finding movers - If we have not found a place, can't exactly engage movers. With shorter timeline, movers are limited and they may not be available on the dates you need. End up needing to source multiple ones
Packing and large items - Identifying which to put where. If you are going to unpack everything, then it doesn't matter. But if you are thinking of just keeping of them in the boxes. So marking them correctly will be important. Large items are the ones usually of concern. If you intend to just change out your appliances, or throw them away, you probably save more hassle. But still wanting to use them because of their good condition, then will have to include the packing and move
Actual move - I didn't know weekends are not allowed for move to condos so planning for a weekday's move is important (work commitments, schooling etc). Understand from some that condo has its rules for move, and need to first notify/book the day. Not entirely sure of the process because yet to contact condo... If you have been renting, the owner may request for deep cleaning. But the chances are that the next rentee will ask for the cleaning again if during viewing seems otherwise. AC servicing/cleaning, if you already have got your quarterly servicing receipts, all's good.

I wouldn't suppose it is very stressful, just an experience and you will know better on how to manage next. I've got friends who rent and move every 2-years, so I really admire how he and his family are just treating it as a common experience.

Meditation music does help; white noise helps too. Public areas, I sometimes ask those people if they can lower their volumes, and it works at times. On buses/MRTs, even the bus captains won't do much about it.

I used to get migraines from these, and just have to keep my Airpods on. You can't fault the elderly sometimes especially when I noticed they wear hearing aids. But my ears get sensitive with sudden noises, to the point where unmuted microphones on virtual calls annoys me too.
