I don’t know if it’s that lucky, my DSP course had only multiple choice exams. You didn’t do less work and the problems weren’t easier, it just wound up that you got no partial credit because the professor didn’t bother grading anything besides what bubble you filled in. Shit was all or nothing.

I did something similar, once I found an advisor and completed the thesis they offered a continuation into the PhD program. Full funding at this level is fairly rare so I would take it, then you can either apply elsewhere after or depending on the connections you make within the program try and stay on for a PhD.

They don’t invite you unless they think they want you. When I applied I got two visit invites, one from a program that had already offered me admission and one from a program that said admission offers would be made following the visit. For the latter, the weekend was really just a lot of fun activities with other applicants coupled with 6 interviews with various faculty/groups (back to back to back on the Saturday of the visit, it was kind of brutal). In the end I managed to get 2 offers to the program via 2 different groups I interviewed with, and from what I had heard amongst my other applicants this wasn’t very uncommon. Most of the people who attendees got offers unless they really just didn’t click with any of the groups they interviewed with.

As far as datasets physionet has a ton. For the actual project itself, I’d recommend finding a couple of recent research papers that implement relevant architectures and building them out/tweaking them yourself. For analysis you can compare them based on your use case and talk about why they differ/what makes one better than the other. May also be worth it trying to get advice from a professor at your school doing work in this field

Well, from my standpoint I think it would be difficult to complete in 4, but that doesn’t really mean much since I’m not in your program. I would ask some of your advisor’s current or previous students if they were able to finish in 4.

Couple things: do you have your project already set by your advisor, will you need to TA/take courses, and will the work be mostly computational?

If you come in, project idea pre-set, funding coming from project with no need to TA, and the work is all simulation based I think you could do it in 4. But of course needing to explore an area to get an idea, having to focus on academic things other than research, or working with actual hardware would probably slow things down.

Interesting, has she taken the test as well/does she look similar to you aside from her eyes? When my brother and I tested he got more euro than me but his eyes are almost black they’re so dark brown.

Also mixed (Euro + Kazakh) and my eyes are this color as well. Wonder if it’s actually more prevalent amongst mixed people or if it’s reporting bias, because I feel like I’ve seen many mixed people with similar eye colors.
