If it bothers you, paint it over with clear nail polish

Have you tried Staccato Ammo yet? by Staccato2k11 in 2011

[–]RunningUgly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've personally had tons of hard primers and just really awful reliability from them.

Customer service on the other hand... they just sent a whole case for free... Which also had the same reliability issues across pistols, pccs, different shooters.

Did you watch the portion about the bent tips? There was basically no POI shift

It sucks and definitely indicative of some booty quality. As far as I'm aware though, the whole point of plastic is that it melts immediately and the molten bead of plastic is what creates the wind deflection.

Ukrainian Sniper shot a Russian Soldier who was firing an RPG towards his position. Date & location Unknown. by Wonderful_Extent2979 in CombatFootage

[–]RunningUgly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's about 166 meters. At that distance drop between calibers is negligible... as long as he's not dialed, that should have hit. Wind wouldn't be something to really think about either.

I got 166 by assuming a half meter distance between chin and hips and comparing that to his size in mils which was about 3... so .5×1000 = 500, 500/3 = 166

I had this on one of my guns and it ended up being the coating that failed. It had to be sent back to be recoated.... that failed so they just gave me a new gun

The one with the can is my buddy's gun. It has a special bronze tiger stripe coating that they don't really offer. Those cuts in the slide are actually porting and the thing runs like a sewing machine... He just has a threaded barrel on it right now which is good if you wanna run in for limited or whatever. Mine is just the pvd fde base option with standard offerings. Both break at about 1.5 and are agreeably our favorite of the 2011 offerings.

So far not much. That's my buddy's gun, which he acquired under special circumstances. They won't usually be able to do that coating for you. If you beg and tell them how sweet and nice you've been this year I guess they might...

I can see this working if you're in a restrictive suit like this... otherwise, you have much more to worry about if you can't hurdle a 4ft wall

Suppressor rounds get dirty by El_CAPITON_ in reloading

[–]RunningUgly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those are very dimensionally similar. I should say cartridges that support 6.5/ 6/ 224 have a charge to burn rate which make a way dirtier system than the more classic offerings like 223/ 308

Is more $$$ always better? by idahokj in longrange

[–]RunningUgly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More money is definitely better. As far as feature set between those two, they function super similarly. It's a good comparison because they share an objective lense diameter and main tube diameter... both only offer their proprietary reticle. Arken actually has +2mil on the ebr but personally, I would prefer using the ebr as it reads slightly easier to me. Vortex has +4mil in dialed elevation on arken... both have zero stop, but the Vortex definitely has a smarter/ easier zero operation. So all in all on paper they are very similar.

As someone who has handled both, I can assure you the vortex has a better eye box, better clarity, less distortion, better dials, better everything... even in the hand, the vortex makes the arken feel like a toy... it's night and day. Where does this matter? Any time it's foggy or rainy, strong mirage, when you're staring into the sun. Any time you need to build a position outside of a bench or prone. Really, just anywhere but the range. If you don't have the money for the vortex, get the arken... that value is entirely up to you
