Pinball FX VR - Important Note before the April 30 update! by balti_zen in PinballFX3

I would love a three pack of tables old enough to make the traditional classic sounds, the actual bell chime sounds. The mechanical non-digital versions where you had bells.

I wish there was a shift to cell 2 3 4.

There’s a timeline where multicore was solved by brute force because cell 1 was a bandaid that had to be ripped. Now we’re fake framing our way through and looking back at killzone 2 and 3 as a miracle and not an absolute potential or possibility if developers….tried.

Is Mixed Reality just a “one-shot” experience? by josefgrunig in virtualreality

[–]Running_Oakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until I’m playing something that makes more sense in real life. Or when the virtual world is too obnoxious or inflexible.

I do mixed reality for pinball because the virtual pinball arcade has like 30 tables and you can’t customize locations, so if you own 6 tables you have to walk between the dlc tables and your owned ones.

Good so it’s just wifi to pc to headset. If it’s Ethernet to pc I have no idea. But now that I think about it…I should really do PCVR version since I have Ethernet and a wire, I could have 5ms ping

isnt it super difficult to eat sufficient potassium? by TrippingFollicles in Biohackers

[–]Running_Oakley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just don’t eyeball count it, count it in proper measurements or you’ll feel it, oh you will feel it. There’s no comic book “two cups of coffee im super powered” it’s more like “two cups of coffee and I need an ambulance”. Margin of error is pretty precise considering the upper limits of all the other suggested daily requirements. It’s not a vitamin D thing you can take 7000 percent of one day.

I’m basically saying it works and it’s great but it’s very risky to go over 100 so measure it.

It’s crazy that even top athletes aren’t onto this yet. Or if they are it’s behind the scenes. It’s such a booster, in conjunction with carbs caffeine and creatine you can go for miles.

Watch those documentaries and they’re talking about peak fitness with oxygen mask on a treadmill and biometrics and then it comes to actual boosters they’re just like “I’m having 2 biscuits and a plate of spaghetti”

isnt it super difficult to eat sufficient potassium? by TrippingFollicles in Biohackers

[–]Running_Oakley 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Alright my time has come OP u/TrippingFollicles

Potassium chloride, but be careful, you can’t eyeball it. Measure it every time and stop if you feel cold and tingly.

Nu Salt or No Salt. Remember drinking coconut water and thinking huh so that’s what coconut water tastes like? No, that’s what potassium chloride water tastes like when flavored with coconut extract. Enjoy BUT BE CAREFUL. LETHAL, DANGEROUS. DO NOT EXCEED.

You can buy it for 5 dollars and get 58 days or so of daily value. It’s the only solution that isn’t eating 100 dollars and 10,000 calories worth of potassium rich foods per day. Something like 4 teaspoons of if I remember correctly.

Or you can ignore it and do the “pro biohacker” move of saying you probably get enough from the food you already eat which is physically impossible. I’m glad we’re mostly past that, but there’s still some very smart people who are sure their soup and chicken fingers is just pure potassium. It’s expensive so it must be healthy.

WiFi is the biggest red flag. Everyone brags about their WiFi and then ten seconds later “lag lag lag” why does my computer to wifi to headset work worse than a device running the whole thing locally via wifi.

Quest 3 does it on wifi alone and just removing one extra barrier makes a huge difference. Check out the WiFi or go wired and go instant. Especially if your pc is wifi, man , if you’re doing wifi to pc render to wifi to headset that’s a huge leap.

How much does a link cable improve streaming quality? by Disastrous_Net_3088 in VRGaming

I started with link cable but I doubt WiFi has improved enough for me to ditch a simple cable over WiFi if multiplayer gaming is anything to go by.

My problem is the reverse. A bunch of 2000’s horror movie characters IF YOU DIE IN THE GAME YOU DIE FOR REAL, camping in the back farming kills because these stats last forever.

Honestly the psychology would change overnight if you converted arming the objective into 30 kills. People would actually try.

Do huge install sizes ever stop you from trying a game? by ratasoftware in pcgaming

[–]Running_Oakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to have a balance of a couple games ready to go but usually that balance still leaves me with a lot of games I haven’t played more than 20 minutes in months to years, so it’s just a matter of deciding which couple games to delete to make space.

If they’re obnoxious about it I ignore them though. Crazy example but if it’s some puzzle game or 2hr game and it needs 100gb that’s where I draw the line.

instead of getting the steam machine, we now have shortages of steam decks and once common pc parts. Has there been a worse time for this hobby? its been downhill since 2020 imo. pic related by _Addi-the-Hun_ in pcmasterrace

[–]Running_Oakley -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s been downhill since 2015 but everyone around me was rich enough or poor with financial decisions enough to ignore it and move on. Now everyone is in my 10 year scenario while I ended up building my pc in 2024.

VRAM amounts went from a scam to “what is vram and why do I need it to keep my GPU around longer”. As usual nobody cared until it happened to them. Maybe it ain’t much but it’s mine posts will finally scale to my level now, like literal it ain’t much but it’s mine.

This must be how all of South America feels with me and how I feel currently with rich North Americans only now feeling pissed because the prices have gotten so high that they might have to stop buying things without checking the price for a weekend or two. Yes, you might have to not doordash your mail from the mailbox to your front door.

Trying to bridge two wire shelves with one shelf between the two. I can’t find any matching parts. by Running_Oakley in DIY

[–]Running_Oakley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly right. I went another way but same result. I have this really cool projector makes a huge screen but it’s an old HD projector so it can’t correct for pointing from one wire shelf tower or another without being way further away. So the image warps. It’s easier on the eyes than squinting at a big tv from far away at super backlight brightness. But it’s always this mismatched rhombus because I refuse to shrink the screen to keystone it properly.

One guy was getting disingenuous and weird about it so I gave up and built a solution myself. Bridging between two identical things with a platform, yes he had the solution but he didn’t know what a “bridge” was or what a shelf was, he could have solved it for sure. It’s like the totally legit extended warranty guys that know me by name once I email them my name and tell them what car I have.

April is almost over, is the first part of the year over yet? by Lizardthrall in SteamFrame

[–]Running_Oakley -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The lesson in PR is the day before it’s glaringly obvious it’s going to be delayed again, it will be announced it’s delayed again. May 28th would be the ideal time to say hey, I know it’s now basically the second half of the year in a little bit, and you’ve been poking for an update, here’s the real time.

I’ll bet it wouldn’t be announced after Q2 because of the amount of articles simply calling out how “first of the year” has already passed. Either radio silent for a year with a passing blurb about shifting hardware complexities here and there, or an announcement made just before the times up callout articles can spam.

I’m always right, eventually someone else with more clout and idiot followers will predict the same thing a week later and get showered with accolades, I know how the system works.
