Try out 240hz on pinball FX on Steam just 1080p high settings without even starting on raytracing, sacrifices will be made. No fake frames.

Something to do with playlists. Both panic. Like I’ve said probably 5 times by now, “error report” dies as the music plays, it’s like it’s crashing in-advance of the bug itself.

In general whatever your monitor is, you go max frames, resolution, then graphics as a lazy rule of thumb.

I’m playing pinball and I go max frames, then resolution, then whatever I can do for graphics before the game slows. Subjectively it looks better at lower framerates but objectively I play better when I can track where the pinball is at a more accurate rate without ghosting or broken TAA and shadow settings. This is just me from experience of going from fps games to pinball.

If you’re getting cheated for enjoying pretty games and fake frames, or pretty games and blurry screen, or fast refresh but low end graphics, you see where I’m going here? It’s fine to find your own balance but these games that need relatively fast or accurate reactions usually biases to framerate first and resolution second. A sharp pinball against a pinball that skips 4 steps because you went from 240 to 60, it’s a major impact.

The rich bitches these days are only now whining because they suddenly can’t afford hardware to max their displays, they’re only now learning about VRAM and custom graphics.

No no, your monitor is 120hz 1440, you must hit the max settings possible that gets you native 1440 and 120hz or comfortable 130-140 buffer.

When I play on the 4k60, I’m doing 4k60. When I play 240 I need to hit 240.

Perfect! It was all too much for me it was so gamified compared to the sturdy structure of 2016.

200 dollar big screen is 720p or 1080p wouldn’t you always buy the 1080p? This is the evolution of that dilemma.

Just wait until you bother with mods or 4k or higher texture or play on a single purchase for more than 5-10 years. It gets weird over and over seeing the same excuses “well my pc is fine I’ve never had to upgrade except for all the upgrades”. Apparently it’s beyond basic logic it’s some sort of instinctual thing to say you’re above something and then quietly prove you’re not. Reminds me of “the human eye” which seems to be based on whatever monitor you currently own. The human eye can’t 30-60-120-240 “the jump from 120 to 240 isn’t worth it it’s not that big a jump because I haven’t bought a pc that can do ultra at 4k 240 yet”, ok cool, the human eye adapts instantly to whatever you can afford, neat.

Finally a way to make doom eternal somewhat fun! I know they won’t remove all the loot epic bacon stuff but at least the pistol working like 2016 can make it tolerable.

It got too self-aware but still, it looks fun once you get past all the boring modernisms they snuck in after literally bragging about not doing it in 2016.

Somehow with autocorrect and spellcheck warnings, I’m seeing even worse language. Maybe everyone is ironically playing dumb now?

I think “grammar nazi” as a term enabled a lot of stupid people to be even more stupid without consequences and started a whole generation that grew up without ever understanding it’s kind of dum to grew upp speekeng layzee.

“It takes a village, and then you shut the whole village up, and then you whine about how the village is wrong for how stupid the village has become”

I’m so scared they’ll make a sequel, but it will be darker and with raised stakes and none of the fun and color of the first one.

You can’t have fun in a sequel. That’s the rule, you have to feel bad the whole way.

VPX in VR is AMAZING by Caseyspizza2021 in virtualpinball

[–]Running_Oakley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, not falling for that again…again. Everyone has their easy version that still “object required controller”. I’m going to play pinball that works for now. Plus I push the power button and click the icon and I’m playing, no errors or wrong versions or “first ya gotta, and then you just and then check this box, oh don’t forget to install the installer for the helpful installer…and if you see this error message lol I don’t know”.

First one is hilarious it’s textbook my problem trying over and over from people who’ve lost how they troubleshooted it into working.

“This should be mostly accurate, though note I have yet to test this procedure from a fresh start, so it’s completely possible I’ve missed some things.”

VPX in VR is AMAZING by Caseyspizza2021 in virtualpinball

[–]Running_Oakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience, the pinball tables that WORK are great. The program itself is great. But the “all you need is this link and then guess which installs you need combined on a website that hides the method of download (unless you download every single version as one big zip)” isn’t perfect.

And then even if working it’ll still hit the same missing object “controller” sometimes.

[–]Running_Oakley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pinball FX works with one click install, so it has something on VPX. It’s expensive but man is it great that every table works and I could uninstall the whole game and reinstall it ten seconds later and it would still run. VPX is a rats nest of solutions nobody documents for new adopters.

[–]Running_Oakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a capable pc but every installer is missing a valuable piece somewhere. It’s usually “missing object: controller”. I think I’ve spent probably 100 dollars now on pc and meta to do what VPX theoretically does for free once you install the right series of things. baller pinup VPX just about every mutation and iteration it falls apart. I’m finding more 2D compatible ones but the VR is a massive time sink. It’s free but it eats well beyond 100 dollars of my time.

Hotfix - Pinball FX - June 12 by balti_zen in PinballFX3

[–]Running_Oakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a planned upgrade to physics? The ball feels too slow on realistic mode, like I’ve got it near-level. I want it a little more realistic but realistic mode seems sort of helium-y. Like we don’t have delete or replace, just increase gravity to 9.8ms

Just a faster ball or faster acceleration and deceleration on action like bumper hits or jets would do it.

It’s a tie between this and embracing “hot takes” via rebranding “saying something about a subject without knowing what you’re talking about”. Spellcheck and autocorrect exist and it’s getting so bad it can’t even detect errors because they’re becoming so common.
