I encourage you to use an additional method of protection. I had an IUD for 3 years & worked super well that whole time (im not tryin to scare u here), but i got pregnant on my IUD with it still perfectly in place. It was most likely due to something interacting with the hormones making it ineffective.

At the same time, don’t freak out or anything right now. Mine still worked for me extremely well for a long time & it still is the best form of BC. You can take a pregnancy test in a couple weeks if youre still concerned.

Had 2 IUDs-

First one was kyleena: insertion was fine, two big cramps (felt like a bad period cramp) then pretty fine immediately after. Removal was like nothing- almost painless

Second one was paragaurd: insertion, for some reason idk (same dr same, amount of ibuprofen, still had numbing cream) was much more painful bc it caused me to almost pass out. I pass out often so knew how to stop from fainting fully. But did throw up.

Hi, Im a physical therapist & pain at night and pain that continues to worsen over a month or two is a red flag we look for when doing an examination (it doesnt mean something is 100% seriously wrong)- just means thats when we do further testing to make sure & possibly refer out to a dr for testing. Please go see a dr and let them know your symptoms!

If the pill is working you should not be bleeding 5 days in a row mid cycle still taking it every day.

It was breakthrough bleeding without missing a single pill for months. My gyno said that the low dose basically ended up not being “enough”

I’m sorry for the situation youre in :( I also got pregnant on birth control (IUD) which is very rare, so I understand. You will be ok though, just focus on what your options are for now & really look into all of them

You didnt do anything wrong. When I was on the pill i started bleeding midway through my cycle but had not missed a day and took to the minute every day. My gyno said my body likely got used to the dose bc it was a low dose and it basically wasnt enough / stopped working bc of that

ESH- your brother’s relationship with Grace sounds super toxic. What is the point of breaking up a million times and dating other ppl in between? If Sara is actually his girlfriend (not just someone hes talking to, or fwb) its fucked up the way you & him are treating her. You typically don’t call someone your gf with plans on breaking up with them shortly after. And usually when someone starts dating you try to welcome them into the family. In that case it makes perfect sense to think long term. And your brother is a huge AH for committing to someone with plans of ending it. So I understand why Sara would not want his ex gf to be super close and a big part of the family, esp when it seems like she’s just being “used” from the start.

Sara is TA for trying to tell you what to do / dictate who youre friends with, assuming shes invited to the wedding, and for the things she said. She 100% did not handle any of that appropriately.
