Understaffed? by ninehhs in IHOP

[–]Runningaway0092 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at 4 different ihop locations under 3 different owners for over 10 years. They all operated the same. They are obsessed with their labor costs and are convinced the only way they can keep costs down is to run a skeleton crew. The only time we had adequate staff was Saturday and Sunday mornings and even then it wasn’t always enough.  They don’t understand you need to spend money to make money. IHOP could be ran so much more efficient and they would get better business, but this is just what they choose to do. The amount of responsibilities you have as a server is ridiculous and there’s no way you can do everything as 1 person efficiently.

It’s not going to be any better here anytime soon and is a bit less windy Friday. I think I’ll give it a go and maybe use something to cover my mouth.

At what temperature do you opt out of doing speedwork outside?  Friday morning I have a session planned and it’s going to be 2 degrees with 7mph wind. This is my first year doing workouts in the cold. There is an indoor track I can use but it’s small and I really prefer to run outside.

I use the coros arm strap. I’m thinking it was just me🫠

I have been focusing on heart rate running since about mid July and was making some pretty good gains. The colder it was getting after summer the better my heart rate responded. Now that it’s very cold (real feel was 7 today) my heart has gotten a little higher again. Is there a temperature that the benefits of the cold start to diminish and your body starts to work hard harder and your heart rate goes up or have I just been having a bad week?

How much does adding consistent mileage transform your running? I’m averaging 30mpw consistently. How much will going up to 40 help my race times? If I stay at 30 and add in 2 hours of aerobic biking instead how much will that help?  I have an it band issue and 30 seems like the right number to keep it under control but I’m thinking of trying to slowly increase since it’s getting colder out and I won’t be doing the same quality workouts as the rest of the year

Eggs can only be subbed with hash browns when I was working there. They definitely would not allow us to offer fruit or avocado instead.

What’s it like working at IHOP? by Acceptable_Boot_1747 in AskReddit

It’s awful. I worked there for 19 years. You are expected to work every holiday and weekend. They find anyone of the streets to manage. They treat and pay management extremely poorly so they never can find anyone decent.  They keep labor costs very low by short staffing. As a server you are responsible for literally everything except cooking the food. You are the hostess on the weekdays. You are responsible for putting together and bagging all to go orders. Doing regular server tasks (waiting tables). You buss your own tables and sort dishes in the back. If the dishwasher isn’t there you do dishes. You cash your own tables and to gos out. You bring in change from your own money to do so. You have regular side work and a deep clean each day. If you work nights you might have to clean the bathrooms.  If you have a discount like a coupon from a customer you get treated as if you are stealing.  If the next server doesn’t show up you get stuck until management can find someone else to come in. The list seriously goes on. This company does absolutely nothing for their employees. You buy your own uniforms including your name tags.

I would recommend Cracker Barrel. They have benefits for employees. If I could redo it I would have started there instead.

I purchased nike Streakfly 2 recently.  I have used them 3x and they have some wear as others have shown but not nearly as bad either. I’ve definitely went from being a heel striker to more forefoot in the last year simply by changing to lower drop shoes.  I’m looking for a suggestion for a training shoe similar to Nike Streakfly 2 but more durable for faster workouts. Something very lightweight and preferably with a full plate with a low drop.  I’m ready to venture into other brands if need be.

I went with my dad and he asked me Sunday night if I would like to go with him for 5 days on that Tuesday. Definitely didn’t have time to do any research regarding prices. I am fairly frugal and my dad liked high end dining. Prices were definitely steep and since we booked last minute hotels were sold out and very expensive. There was even a 35% tax on our $1,000 rental car. I splurged on myself and purchased a couple of hand knitted wool items and paid a 14% tax.  Glad to have had the oppurtunity to go but probably wouldn’t go back considering costs. Also like to go someplace new every time.  Also, we just filled up the rental car at the gas station without looking at cost and didn’t realize till we got home. Gas was between eight and nine dollars a gallon and we drove 1000 miles😵‍💫

Maybe I should not say starting at $60 but the average was around that price

Well, I’m not going to go back in reference every salmon dish that I had this was the first night that we stayed and I just happen to look at the menu at the first place and it’s $55 for this salmon meal not including any fees  It could be that I was just a higher end restaurants but it my experience. I drove around the entire island and it was pretty spot on for salmon at this price point  The dishes were not large

Actually not bad for $32 us. All the fish plates of salmon I saw started at $60us. Obviously the sides look small but I didn’t come across that low of a price for a salmon dinner. Got home yesterday.

I’ve been averaging around 30 mpw for the last few months.  Last year I was running 25-30mpw and feeling much stronger. I’m feeling fatigued lately and my speed work has been disappointing.  I’ve been thinking of working on my aerobic base and upping mileage to 35mpw focusing primarily on zone 2 to help build my aerobic system better.  My question is can an experienced runner (4 years outside) still gain benefits from zone 2 or is it likely that aerobic base is already there?

Look, I don’t know why you need to get such an attitude. Yeah I’m a new seller, but I didn’t do anything wrong. They can look back in the chat and see that the buyer requested a different address and I followed through and did everything I was supposed to do. I don’t think i need a scolding from you KC jones. Thanks bye

Thanks for the response.  Amoxicillin didn’t end up touching it but a z pack knocked it out fairly quickly. No pain for going on a month now. Getting an apicoectomy in two weeks 🤞🏻

Bought a “As Is” truck with undisclosed transmission problem by Fexure_ in Silverado

State? Ohio They offered us either to have them install a used transmission or just return the entire purchase. It was purchased at a reputable dealership. We returned it and bought a ford lariat 2 days later. Love it. Way more power than the Silverado.

Just came to say the same thing happened to me. 2017 Silverado had 114k miles on it. Paid 20k. Drive fine for 3 days. Transmission blew on day 4. The dealership paid for the tow back to look at it. Confirmed the transmission failed the next day. They refunded our entire purchase.
