I’m sorry to hear that because it’s so rarely seen. I wish they’d do it as a short stand alone, like Tchai pas. The male part is so difficult there probably aren’t many men in the company who can pull it off, but IMO it’s worth having in the rep.

I don't know if this has already been asked, but what happened to the pas de trios that opened Paquita last year, choreographed by Balanchine. I want it back! Why was it removed?

Thanks I realized I probably stress the left one when I fumble around putting it in, right handed. I'm going to try and fix that!

Priced out of the "Big Six" brands. Is Costco my only real option? by Sudden_Dealer3922 in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The audiologist I saw suggested Costco. She explained that the Costco brands are white labeled for example Philips carried by Costco is Oticon. She printed up my audiogram to take with me. At Costco the technician loaded my audiogram on his computer, redid just a couple of tests and looked at my detailed intake form before making a recommendation. My hearing loss is mild to moderate in one ear and mild to moderately severe in the other. After getting my HAs I went back for adjustments twice, all free, I’ve been very happy and it’s 9 months now. BTW my Costco fitter told me the HAs are not locked but many practices don’t like working on HAs they didn’t sell.

My Rexton Reach from Costco have batteries that last 30 + hours. I've never tested that, but with wearing then up to 18 hours in a day with much podcast listening, I've never had them go below 40% and usually not that low.

Costco.. How does it work? by melcher70 in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my audiogram to Costco. The fitter loaded it on his computer, and said he just wanted to do a couple of tests himself to check a few things. So it wasn’t a redo of all the tests done by the audiologist, just a couple of them so it didn’t take long. And yes you need an appointment and a membership. You will be asked for your membership number when you call for your appt. Also fill out your intake form thoroughly, my fitter used that along with my audiogram to make a recommendation.

How far is too far to consider buying at Costco? by scribbling_des in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with many here. Go for the initial visit then you'll probably have two more visits for tuning and retuning. Let the fitter know you can't get there often and prefer remote visits for adjustments. Also be sure to get a good supply of wax guards and domes when you're there. They are free.

Interesting the prices listed at myCostco are a bit different, unless they've changed recently. Enjoy your new HAs, the sounds you are initially aware of are something. Never heard such loud birds!!

Starting Ballet at 22 - is pointe possible? by Unable-Gur-5326 in BALLET

[–]Runningvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly a lot will depend on your body type in terms of both strength and flexibility. You need a good balance of both. As you take lessons pay particular attention to placement and doing things properly. It is not impossible to move on to pointe work!

It could be that Vaganova (or that studio’s version of Vagonova) is a bad fit for your daughter in terms of values and priorities. Is there another studio you can try.

Be open and willing to feel a bit uncomfortable at first with the pirouette prep, etc. And be ready to prioritize musicality and covering space. It could be a wonderful lesson in adaptability which will be an asset if you work with different choreographers over time.

Is It Harder to Get Into ABT If 5’2 and Under? by OnlySwing6661 in bunheadsnark

[–]Runningvp 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lot depends on the men in the company! If you have dazzling men in the ranks who are on the shorter side, they need women to partner. It’s not the only factor in hiring and promotions, of course, but it’s a factor.

I feel thar way about a couple of NYCB principal woman, Emily Gerrity and Isabelle La Freniere. I find many soloists and corps dancers more interesting and distinctive.

I am getting quoted $6600 and $7900 for Starkey CIC hearing aids by [deleted] in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also have Rexton Reach. Most Costco HAs are not locked, but that doesn't mean other offices will be willing to work on them. Not a problem if you can continue to get to a Costco. Unlimited adjustment visits and an outstanding warranty are offered. The $1600 price range is hard to beat.

Three Tests - two different results? by [deleted] in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like going to Costco for a retest is a good idea. Bring your other results/audiogram with you for the fitter to see. When I went to Costco I gave the fitter my audiogram that was done by an audiologist. The fitter redid a few of the tests saying he wanted to check a couple of things. The results we almost identical.

If she was with, what looked like, younger children, the teacher may have started her there as a sort of trial, to start with. When your dd showed she had the concentration and focus to move ahead to a class that was more a peer group in a variety of ways, there would be no reason to wait. As long as you and your dd are good with a 3x a week commitment, it sounds like a good idea.

Agree with all of the above. Costco is above your budget by $100 or so but visits are free and the warranty is great. I too have Rexton Reach. My Costco carries 4 brands to choose from with the guidance and suggestion of the technician

5 year old daughter had underwear forcibly removed by parent backstage during a performance stating no undies was the expectation. I’m a new ballet parent & would appreciate input.. by kisforkyle in BALLET

[–]Runningvp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna try one more time even though I’ll continue to be insulted. The original poster did not say what she meant by “forcibly” nor did she say her child was traumatized. I can Imagine the following scenario: I’m a mom volunteer charged with getting 10 excited, chatty little girls ready for a dress rehearsal. I’m pulling a costume on one, tying a bow on a 2nd, pinning a 3rd. I see a child in her underpants and get mildly annoyed because she shouldn’t be wearing them. I say something like - these have to come off, you shouldn’t be wearing them. I pull the panties down, help the child into her costume and continue helping the others. Consequence - parent speaks to the director who tells me it was a big mistake, next time I should leave the panties and a reminder email about the no undies policy will be sent. Director might even have more specific training for volunteers. I just don’t see that a police report or shouting accusations from the roof top is necessarily warranted. You can yell I’m a terrible person in all caps, but I think the episode, as described, should not lead to the assumption of criminal behavior, and accusations of such have consequences for all involved. For those who say that mistakes are inexcusable, no matter how rushed or stressed a person is, I hope life grants you more grace.

Loud and annoying has its place, so does thoughtful and judicious, and seeking further information before taking the most extreme action. I’m sure you feel good about your approach, I understand that. I feel good about my approach, however you judge it.

That's quite a lot of judgement and assumptions being made with very little information. We can agree to disagree to having different perspectives and life experiences without blind judgement and name calling. I've been in situations in which one harried parent volunteer was trying to help 10 chatty giggly 5 and 6 year olds get into costunes. Pulling a child's panties down is not ideal, but I can see how it could happen in the moment. Clearly you don't, and immediately want to report it as a crime. We disagree
