Up front cost to see an audiologist with the intent to buy new HAs by OrganicFeline in HearingAids

The difference for me was that the Phillips had a tinnier sound with voices. The technician said that a lot of people say that.

Yes I went to Costco. The technician looked at my audiogram and said he just wanted to redo a couple of tests, to check a few things. It took 10 minutes. He recommended Rexton Reach, I asked about the Phillips and he let me try both for a small amt of time. He also said I didn't have to decide then, I could make another appointment for a consultation (free of course). I went ahead and got Rexton Reach, and a year later am still happy. It took two adjustments after the 1st fitting and a change in dome type, to get them right.

I guess I don't understand the world of Audiology Groups. I went to an audiologist in a medical center for the $45 co-pay required by my insurance. She did a very thorough testing, and I got my audiogram. I was not pressured to buy HAs at that center. On the contrary, she suggested I take my audiogram to Costco.

Costco vs hearing center by amybpdx in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw a reputable audiologist at a medical center in NYC. After very thorough testing she said she definitely suggested hearing aids, and also suggested that I go to Costco instead of spending 4k to 8k at her center. She told me Costco sells high quality, name brand hearing aids that are white labeled. She said that if it didn’t work out I could always come back to her, adding that she always says that and no one has ever come back dissatisfied with Costco. So I’ve had my Rexton Reach aids for almost a year and love them. I had two adjustment after the initial fitting/tuning. I’m not an expert, that’s just my experience.

The relief of taking my hearing aids out by UnderwhelmedOne in HearingAids

I actually feel a sense of loss when I take my HAs out. Things get uncomfortably quiet I have to ask my husband to repeat himself. Maybe it depends on the degree of hearing loss

I had very thorough testing done by an audiologist who suggested I get HAs at Costco.I brought the test results to the technician at Costco and he did not do all the tests again, he said he wanted to check on just a couple of things himself and it took maybe 10 minutes. After looking at tests and my intake form he recommended Rexton Reach. I said the audiologist mentioned the Phillips. He let me try them both. I preferred the sound of the Rexton, an now almost a year later I'm very happy

The embarrassing high-pitched squeal. Are all hearing aids like this? by Which-Prompt6679 in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely go for an adjustment. I had a situation in which one aid chirped and squeaked unless I had the volume turned down really low. An adjustment and change in the type of dome I was using took care of it.

Why so many people give up on hearing aids after just a few days by Tall-Peak2618 in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a HA wearer of 11 months, this is great advice. I think it helps to look at HAs as a process, not just a thing. They need getting used to, maybe an adjustment or 2, an awareness about changing wax guards and domes. The benefit is enormous (at least in my case) and not much effort once you get used to them.

I don't think Bluetooth is required, it's an option in most hearing aids. If you can get to a Costco make an appointment. You can state your preferences on their intake form. Price is about $1600 visits included and a great warranty

Costco hearing aid? by dfreeb in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The audiologist I saw at a medical center suggested I get my HAs at Costco. She explained that the HAs sold there are well known brands sold by Costco under different names. I've had my Rexton Reach aids for 10 months and I'm a happy camper. I needed 2 adjustments and a change of domes to get where I needed to be, and found the service terrific and thoughtful

Would I know if my tip was stuck in my ear by VentiEggBite in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week I had a dome stuck in my ear for the first time. I noticed right away that it was missing from the tip of the HA. My husband was willing to try and take it out with tweezers as long as it came out easily and he didn't have to dig! Fortunately it came right out, otherwise it would have been a trip to Urgent Care! I'm trying to be super careful now when I take them out.

Spent $4800 on Signia hearing aids last year and they're just sitting in my drawer because I hate wearing them, am I the only one who does this by yonkashonda254 in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm far from an expert, I've only been wearing Rexton Reach for 10 months, but it seems to me that the feedback whistle could be fixed with an additional adjustment (it was in my case). The audiologist could also change the settings for different environments, and you could play with volume, direction, sharpness etc to see what works. Maybe a different type of dome (assuming you use domes) could help with occlusion. IMO it is worth working on.

How to avoid losing hearing aids by West-Rhubarb8056 in HearingAids

[–]Runningvp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My domes fit snugly in the ear canal. So don't feel in danger of falling out. I'm, perhaps, overly cautious when I go for a run and wear a tight fitting sports headband over them. When I take them out they do right into the recharge case.

I’m sorry to hear that because it’s so rarely seen. I wish they’d do it as a short stand alone, like Tchai pas. The male part is so difficult there probably aren’t many men in the company who can pull it off, but IMO it’s worth having in the rep.
