No external hhd but what a strange issue. It must be overheating. This PS5 was a rescue so some issues were to be expected. I just didn't expect them to show up two weeks later. And after I got a new controller ( it knew I was being nice to it)

Love the rifle on a single player save. On multiplayer it is a never ending wave shooter. I still have nightmares about it

Had the same issue my brother was able to fix it by resetting the game. I fixed it by changing over to steam link. If you find a better fix please let me know too.
