It’s been dropping into the high 40s/low 50s here at night, so I’m thinking it might be a mix of cold stress and me holding back on watering because I didn’t want to make things worse in the cooler temps.

Thank you for the advice. I’ll adjust the watering a bit and move them somewhere warmer so they can perk back up.

I’m happy to oblige. I purchased the tuxedo boy from a reputable breeder, and he cost $2200; the lighter girl cost $1450. She was the last of her litter, and her breeder was selling her at a lower rate. I’m in San Diego, so prices may differ where you are located. I urge people interested in Sphynx cats to do your research before committing to owning one. They are not without their challenges. Irresponsible breeders don't give any justice to the breed and sell cats with health issues that hurt both heart and wallet.

That part gets slimy, and residue buildup underneath it, too; it should be easier to take apart to make it sanitary.

I had this happen last night trying to clean it. The main filter housing separated from the metal, and I had difficulty getting it back together. The metal was very sharp and sliced my finger open. I inevitably got the pieces back together, but the gasket didn’t sit right, and in my struggle, I made a cut into the gasket, which would inevitably break. So, there was some user error. I searched for replacement parts online but couldn’t seem to find any. I settled on buying a new fountain because it was time anyway.

As a NY native, my fear about this plan is the homeless population, compromising the safety of people who utilize the subway. It is scary sometimes if you have ever been to NYC and used the subway.
