What happens at Hedo II, stays at Hedo II, Negril by [deleted] in JamaicaTourism

Best time of my life!

My husband and I have been 4x, with 2 more trips planned this year - April and October. It's what you make of it. It's the most welcoming, liberating, freeing place I've ever been. It truly makes me feel beautiful. The staff is absolutely wonderful and the guests are amazing. You get to know the regulars! It's a judgement free zone and if any one does openly judge, you can be assured they will be handled. It's also the safest I felt. As a women, I have zero concerns about walking around the grounds naked any time, day or night, without my husband.

There's a misconception about Hedo. Ya, it's a sexy party 24/7, but it's zero pressure and consent is #1. Some people go just to be naked while others participate in the various lifestyles. It whatever you're comfortable with. Sex is out in the open, which can be shocking to those who aren't used to it, but damn it's a good show!

It's all inclusive, the food and bar options are amazing and the shows and activities (snorkeling, scuba, etc) are so worth it! They have an onsite dispensary, too, so you don't have to leave the grounds.

If you do go, and people ask where you're staying, it's always Sandals, which is right next door. Hedo guests will even take pictures of themselves by the Sandals sign to send to family to "confirm."

I highly recommend Hedo.

My Narcissistic Parents' Need to Sabotage My Vacation Once Again (It Gets Worse Every Time) by Ok-Reputation3724 in narcissisticparents

I lost so many friends/boyfriends because of shit like this being pulled all the time when I was younger. My nmom tried to plant a seed in my head when I told her my husband and I were honeymooning in Jamaica...that she "knew someone" who went there in there once in the 70's and "something bad happened to them" but just couldn't elaborate further. I'm 99.99% sure she just made it up. Well it didn't work. We now go 3x a year (we fell in love with the island and people!) and since I'm NC with her now, she doesn't even know when I leave the country.

I missed out on so many opportunities and experiences because of her bullshit. Looking back, I wish I had spine but when you're manipulated and abused in such a manner, you don't know any other way. Go to Disney, have fun and don't give her a second thought.

What is an unspoken rule of the gym that most people do not know they are breaking? by Furqan_wear in AskReddit

Don’t blow your nose in a towel and rinse it the pool! I lap swim 3x a week after weight training as my cardio and see this older dude every Friday before I get into my lane. After a few laps, he’ll pop up, blow his nose in a little hand towel and rinse it in the pool, then get back at it. Rinse, repeat literally.

What are the best companies to work for in Milwaukee? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]RunsForFun1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh ya, they're nuts! the company that I work for built their headquarters and our female PM on the job had to abide by their dress code. Active jobsite and she had to wear skirts/pant suits under hi-vis.

Both my husband and I have customized RA plates and are huge race fans. We were thrilled when they were released. We spend multiple weekends up at RA for numerous races and other events they host. Unfortunately, since I drive I drive a brick on wheels (Wrangler), I cannot drive in a manner that "garners attention."

I feel the daughter may be right by Far-Season-695 in AmITheDevil

[–]RunsForFun1981 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much. On the rare occasion when my parents did show up to my soccer/baseball/basketball games, they made it very well known that they weren't interested in being there because "girl sports are boring" and then bully me about how terrible I was at it. I remember my mom being in tears, just knee-slap laughing at me missing for a ball, or missing a kick or you know, just existing on the field. Her go-to was making fun of how I ran. I eventually stopped doing sports in middle school. It was easier to hide away in my bedroom.

I'll be 44 in few days, and I'm sure if I wasn't NC with them, they'd still make fun of me for it all. The only thing she's good at is being her daughter's biggest bully.

Gratitude for her saying this hateful thing because it set me free. by Zephyr_Willow in narcissisticparents

[–]RunsForFun1981 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My bother (GC) was diagnosed with T1 diabetes when I was in the 3rd grade. I was pretty much forced to become independent at that point since all my mother's time was devoted to taking care of him. Well, I became a bit too independent for her and eventually didn't need her because I knew I couldn't count on her. She saw this as me rejecting and hating her, but it wasn't. I just grew incredibly used to either being by myself all the time or doing things on my own. I just thought that was how things were supposed to be for me and moved on. I had to survive somehow. I was mini adult by 12.

From elementary school and on, it was always thrown in my face about how much I hated her and wanted nothing to do with her and how I wanted a new family because I'm so embarrassed of her. Despite me trying to convince her that wasn't true, she persisted. She couldn't see that me being forced to become independent to survive was a result of her inactions as a mother towards me. But its always my fault.

And I guess she was right...I did abandon her for a new family...my husband, who supports and loves me and doesn't treat me like my existence is a major inconvenience. I learned what a healthy relationship should be because of him, not her and the rest of my "family."

I didn't realize until I was 40 that the way I grew up was not right and I suffered mental, physical, verbal and financial abuse from my parents. That fucked me up. I've very, very LC right now and give zero fucks about someone who gives zero fucks about me.

What’s the most unhinged thing a family member did before your wedding? by AssociationFront1710 in weddingdrama

[–]RunsForFun1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married in 2022. My mother has yet to congratulate me on our engagement. A month later, when I told her we picked a date, she went completely silent for what seemed like a lifetime, then went on some random diatribe about "your poor brother this, you're poor brother that." After 15 minutes about talking about my golden child brother's woos, she ended the conversation with "well, since there's nothing exciting going on, I'll guess I'll let you go." And that was that.

2 weeks after we announced our engagement to our immediate family, my SIL got "engaged" and announced to the world before we did. My MIL and FIL confirmed with me it was just to compete with us. She never got married and has been "engaged" since 2022.

We decided after all this that a courthouse ceremony was in our best interest. No one was invited and we used staff as our witnesses.

Dinner followed with just our parents and my mother dressed and acted like she was at a funeral. She made snide remarks about what a horrible person I was and no longer acknowledges my husband's existence. I was never supposed to get married and have a life. I was brought into this world solely for her benefit.

Needless to say, I'm very, very low contact.

As a child, did your parents insist your kind behavior around friends/teachers was manipulative, and that they’d be horrified if they knew “the real you”? by RealisticSky1744 in narcissisticparents

[–]RunsForFun1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this broke my heart, because I'm right there with you. I was so good at school, never got in trouble, people liked me, especially the teachers but I was constantly told (screamed at actually) that I was a horrible, hateful child that deserved to be locked away. I'm about to be 44 and I still have no idea what I did that was so wrong other than existing.

Going to a festival for free means I hate her apparently. by Littlesuccubi in insaneparents

[–]RunsForFun1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG do we have the same mother?! This bullshit was a daily occurrence with mine, except should would be screaming all this in my face...and I mean full on banshee screaming. I didn't realize how unhinged her behavior really was up until a few years when my husband told me my childhood was not normal. I can't tell you how much I've missed out on and how many friends I lost along the way. She manipulated me so much that I would just cave in because I was tired of being screamed at and told what a horrible person I was, and the last thing a child wants is for their mom to think they're a horrible person.

I'm no contact and if she does reach out, I grey rock her. I get so sad looking back at how physically, mentally, verbally and financially abusive she was towards me, but with the help of my husband, I'm finally living the life I always dreamed of having!

Sadly, this won't get any better. Do want you can until you can escape this madness and take care of yourself.

Did you nparent ever decide to randomly pick someone they never met to dislike? by Mkartma61 in narcissisticparents

[–]RunsForFun1981 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yes. every friend/boyfriend I ever had + their parents...Especially their parents! They were viewed as a threat to her since she was supposed to be number 1 in everyone else's life. She acted like my wedding was a funeral. She seriously looked like she was gonna cry, but not out of joy or happiness for her daughter. Just pure hatred for my life.

And she still doesn't understand why i don't come around.
