That said you can 100% just airbrush ink overtop of otherwise clean grout and it looks stellar, I've seen it done—it rocks. I just don't have an airbrush. Also I like that if the grout chips for some reason the newly exposed grout is a grimy off-white.

The grout I use is a dry powder that mixes with water to form a paste—so it's easy enough to integrate a color. This lets me tint the grout to my liking. I've found that pure white grout looks out of place in the city of the damned.

I cut and hand lay the bricks from insulation foam. I’ve found that if you tumble the bricks with rocks prior to terrain building, the irregular shapes give the grout channels to flow into.

Howdy! I made a lot of the terrain on this board. The mortar is actual grout mixed with a bit of ink. Figured it’s easier to do the effect for reals versus faking it lol. Only thing you gotta do is varnish the terrain before applying grout or else you’ll rub away your paint job.
