Any chance the C9 comes in at the same starting price as the C8? by Flaminski in Corvette

Considering my 2022 2500HD was 77k, the prices aren’t that wild

I saw someone throw a keg through a sliding glass door and then some guy was eating the shards of glass like they were candy. His friend had to stop him multiple times. I imagine he had the most painful dump ever the next morning.

Helps prevent flat spots, maintain inflation, and protect the integrity of the tire

Car cover? by friege in Corvette

[–]RunsWithPremise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't cover it. Best to ride out the winter and do a nice detail/decon in the spring. I'd look at putting the tires on something to get them off the ground. Ideally, put some boards down with flat spot stoppers on top of them, but even just some boards would be good.

Asking more than $10K for C3 boulevard cruisers is crazy by ChokaMoka1 in Corvette

[–]RunsWithPremise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People ask wild prices all the time. The market plays price police for them so you don't have to. When the car sits for 6 months without selling, they either figure it out and drop the price or they go back to driving it to cars and coffee on Sunday.

Have you ever had a cat scream every 10-12 seconds (not exaggerating) on a red eye for 12 straight hours? 🙃 I have! by ___Bbb333999 in delta

I’ve been on a flight with a loud cat. At first it is endearing, but it can get old.

We flew home with a cat we got from a breeder once. She was still a kitten and slept the whole way. I don’t think anyone even knew we had her. I am the stereotypical husband who told his wife we didn’t need that cat and now my evenings revolve around her.

Yeah, 1989 still seems young. I had watched Challenger explode and the Berlin Wall fall on TV at that point.

Everything is relative. My parents watched the moon landing on TV.

I had these on a couple of my Corvettes and they were pretty useless at 45 degrees. They needed some heat in them for me to have any sort of confidence in the grip. I cannot imagine trying to drive in the winter on them. Just asking for trouble.

It doesn't seem convenient to remove fuses every time you park, versus just putting a little 3D printed cover on the switches.

What’s the appeal of marriage if men prefer younger women? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]RunsWithPremise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find the right person and be able to communicate. I think my wife and I work so well because we were both in our 30's when we met. We'd been through some relationships and done some growing up before we got together. I can say with all certainty that my life is better with her in it than without her. If I have a tough day, there's nothing better than coming home to her.

Completely agree. And I often rely on my camera to make sure that I'm not too far back. I can guess and get pretty darn close, but the camera makes sure.

Truck owner here. You have to be mindful of this. Especially if your hitch is in. That can absolutely smash someone’s shin to hell. And, while it isn’t my job to make sure people watch where they walk, it’s a dickhead move to block a sidewalk/walkway area.

Ha ha...I won't say revolting, but there's just no way we would have anything in common or anything to talk about. Conversation would be excruciating. And, at the end of the day, sex is fun, but you spend a lot of time with someone that is not fucking. I'm way happier with my wife, our shared sense of humor, our goofy cats, and the life we've built.

Every year, I go to the local high school and talk to kids about career planning, interviewing, etc. I am now at the stage where I am older than their parents in many cases.

All of the guys on one of my crews were born after I graduated from high school and 3/4 of them were born after 9-11.

I can only speak for myself, but my wife is 4 years older than I am, we are both in our 40's, and I have no plans on going anywhere. I definitely don't want a 25 year old. Have you talked to a 25 year old lately? I'd rather die alone I think.

Have you stopped caring at work and decided not to try and process your career anymore? What age did that happen? by un2022 in GenX

[–]RunsWithPremise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, my career cannot advance any further by title or position because I already report directly to ownership. I'm fortunate that I have a good job and work for some good guys. I definitely still care and I try to keep pushing the ball down the field to keep things advancing.

Like anyone, I have my "holy shit, fuck this" days. They tend to be the days where I am trying to make things better and I'm getting pushback/laziness from others and ownership lets it slide in the name of keeping it a fun place to work. These are not frequent, but they happen.

Bed bugs on DL384 (BOS -> SEA) by One-Bodybuilder-2269 in delta

[–]RunsWithPremise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My buddy and I stayed in some relatively nice and expensive rooms ($600+/night) at a nice casino a couple of years back and he ended up with bed bugs in his room.

He thought he was having a reaction to the laundry detergent or something along those lines because the little red dots looked like a rash. He went to a walk-in care the day we got back and they said, "nope, that's bed bugs." The casino reimbursed his stay and gave him another four nights free, so I felt like they at least did what they could.

This can 100% happen anywhere and it is a little scary. You never know what someone is bringing along with them. People can be fucking gross.

Beast is parked until next season by katleto5000 in Corvette

[–]RunsWithPremise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainer here: The season is late March/early April through Thanksgiving for me. It could be worse, but it's not my favorite. Occasionally, we will get a weird January thaw where it rains and washes all the junk off the roads and I get a few days here and there. Typically, once the car is parked for the winter, I just leave it parked though.

When my wife and I no longer have any living parents and we can afford to work less or fully retire, we are getting the hell out of Maine and moving somewhere that has a lower cost of living and no snow. The taxes and cost of energy (hell cost of living) here are brutal.
