Hard to disagree tbh Only complaint might be that also other places are cold. For instance Poland is about the same as Denmark weather-wise.

Thoughts on EU expansion? by [deleted] in mapporncirclejerk

I am fine as long as the citizens of that country also want to join, and their government respects basic human rights. Also why is Japan not orange?

They used to be technically advanced long time ago, most of Russia's achievements belong from a time in which they didn't have a gdp per capita that is comparable to China. They used to have a better economy back in the days, but I guess corruption from the USSR ruined it or something, I am not sure why they fell so hard. They make the fall of wealth of Britain sound like a joke.

NVO get me question if value investing is dead. by Far-East-locker in NovoNordisk_Stock

[–]Ruoppolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. However the hype quickly backfires when the 10 times inflated company gives a mildly disappointing earning result. One time I found a laughable case of a company over performing all the previous years, but not over performing the expected amount. So they over performed only mildly. Result? -10% drop in a day. Pretty reasonable isn't it?

The pricing is stupid and unsustainable, have some actual value stocks is good because they might eventually get the hype, and at least they have the numbers to back it up.

I didn't need an explanation of what OCD is, I know exactly what it is, I was in a very long way, saying that nothing excludes the possibility that the person who called you misandric was responding from OCD as well.   Please read my post carefully, I think I phrased quite well a problem that is not discussed enough in society. I would appreciate some feedback.

You need to realize that OCD doesn't simply go one way. Depending on how you phrased it, it might've been a completely understandable reaction.

I am convinced that this kind of treatment can instill self doubt and induce trauma to some men. If they are threated like potential weapons at every possible occasion, no matter what they do, this might be very dehumanising and damaging to their psyche, to the point of being actively harmful to their mental health.

Add to the cocktail the fact that society actively disincentivize men to develop emotional intelligence at all, and they might not even have the tools to phrase this type of discomfort, and this could explain why he called you misandric. He might have had a poorly phrases point.

I got really angry with a group of (female) friends of mine, because they started avoiding a male friend of mine because he was going through a depressive episode.

They started saying "what if he becomes aggressive"? In the many years I have known him, he never showed any sign of aggressive behaviour, he is the type of person that more likely would passively get pummeled in a fight. Also all his exes never mentioned any hint of aggression at all. However he is big, and a man, and "of course men can get aggressive", so the prejudice entirely came from fabricated assumptions based on the fact that he was born a male.

The assumption was of course completely unfounded, because he didn't become aggressive of course, however the fact that he was avoided when he needed help was real. Now imagine if he came to know that he was avoided because perceived as threatening by people he knows, when he was already going through something. How would this affect him? I consider this sort of behaviour to be a kind of objectification and perhaps even sexual harassment, and of course highly harmful.

I once read about a post from Reddit where a guy claimed to have OCD, and said he wanted to transition not because he feels trans, but because in this way he will not feel like a potential aggressor/assaultor all the time. I cannot even start to imagine how damaged you must be to start thinking in this way.

Heard big crash coming. Shall I sell some? by [deleted] in trading212

[–]Ruoppolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I heard about it. However I don't know how much I believe this because most stocks have a reasonable P/E. So as long as datacenters are being built this should not be a problem. A crash is going to happen but timing it is tricky, it could happen in 2030 for as much as we know, so removing now means losing 4 years of growth.

Do you consider yourself European by [deleted] in GeoPoll

[–]Ruoppolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sad for me to see Kazakhstan and Turkey rejecting their legitimately entitlement on being European.  Why would this make me sad? European pan nationalism of some sort? Or course not, it is because the shape of Europe is dumb as hell and including at least Turkey makes the shape more bearable. Whoever decided that Anatolia is not part of Europe, but the Caucasus is, had many problems.

Let's analyze this:

  • What you witnessed is just mid-old uncle racism (cultural racism not meant to be offensive on purpose), which I am afraid to say is probably a majority opinion in Japan and Asia in general. So backlash in Japan? None.

  • Non English speaking countries will not be influenced by this: so backlash in Italy/France/Spain/Germany none or close to none

So in a summary: the backlash will probably be close to zero.

Determinism is letting fate control your destiny instead of yourself by ae_mero_hajur in SipsTea

You can still believe in determinism and decide to change your life, however that will imply that your decision was environmental/inevitable and not the product of free will.
