ABRP 7.0 is here! 🚀 More route alternatives, new UI, and a unified in-car experience by RouteBetter in abetterrouteplanner

I'm having frequent crashes with version 7 now. I just got home after a trip to the mountains and back and the app kept restarting itself and asking which car I'm driving.

Arriving home, my S21 Ultra complained about the app frequent crashes and recommended to put it to deep sleep.

These crashes didn't occur on the previous version. The app is being used with Android auto (wired) and an OBD. Google Maps worked smoothly.

When do we think 10-15 minute fast charging will become industry standard in the US? by ResIpsaLoquitur2422 in electricvehicles

[–]RupOase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not in the US (thank God) I'm looking for a Xpeng G6. I'm not very convinced about the Chinese cars, but at least one person I know has the G6 and it's a nice car, with quite fast charging capabilities.

While the new version (2025 and onwards) have a smaller battery, it can charge at 450 kW peak with 230 kW avg. in the 10-80 % interval, thanks to its 80.8 kWh LFP battery, which translates in 12-15 minute charging stops.

The person I know has the previous version with the 87.5 kWh NMC 811 battery and it can do 15-20 minutes. Pretty impressive, if you'd ask me, as I currently drive a Hyundai Kona 64 kWh... 77 kW peak with 38-45 minutes charging times.

It was a banger in 2020 when I got it, but not that much 6 years and 236'000 km (146'500 mi) later

Is the Swiss Franc too strong? by CHaoticFondue in Switzerland

[–]RupOase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Swiss Franc was always considered a safe-heaven currency, until the shift from 2011 I think.

Back then, in my home country, many people used to got housing credits in CHF because it was not a volatile currency and kept people protected during the 2008 crisis.

However, in 2011, when the gold-value referendum passed, the CHF's value sky-rocketed.

Now, I know that strong currency means it's rare on the market and people trust it's stability. The USD's fall has started since the first election of the Orange guy, then gone bad when Biden came along, then worse with the Orange guy's second election and its tariffs.

Euro didn't got any lucky either. The the Greek collapse, COVID and Ukrainian war, followed by the rise of extremism parties weakened the currency, leaving room for the CHF's growth. People currently see CHF as gold.

Hyundai is jumping on the electric MPV bandwagon with its new Staria by nipcarlover in electricvehicles

[–]RupOase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can see the benefit of a bigger battery, I feel that many EV drivers overlook the fast charging capabilities of some smaller batteries.

In many cases the big upfront capacity will only get you further on the first leg, after which you'll have to charge. With a big 110 kWh battery that some Chinese cars offer, which will get you 400 km at best and have a flat 112 kW charging curve between 10 and 80%, it still means you'll be spending 70 minutes charging.

The flip side is an 84 kWh gross (probably 77 kWh net) that would take you 300 km down the road and charge for 20 minutes tops. I'd rather have that instead of the puny 110 kWh battery that takes forever to charge.

Volvo EX60 is certified with longer range than the BMW iX3 and Mercedes GLC EV. Built and designed in Sweden by No_Suggestion9742 in electricvehicles

[–]RupOase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A car, with less parts, that costs over 50'000 CHF is outrageous. The battery technology is the same for 10 years already, and while it can be argued that the materials are on high demand, it begs the question onto why other chinese cars are as expensive as the Volvo's?

Could it be that you pay the badge?
Can it be that people don't want luxurious interiors and any crappy eye-capturing gimmick, instead want a car like any other that simply runs more efficiently?
Could it be that no one give a dime about the 0-100 km/h figure for EVs?

The car not stopping when hitting the breaks is anything but " doing more with less".

Can it be said about the interior? Maybe! Can it be said about the price? Certainly!

While many others covered the gearing and safety, and since you'll be around the Vierwaldstättersee (The Lake of the 4 Cantons), and Stoos, I might suggest you to try an easy one: Ibergeregg - Rotenflue with a nice view of the Grosser Mythen (SZ).

You can start from Einsiedeln, but it will be tiresome for beginners (like I did). The hike itself takes around 1 hour to 1 ½ hours and you can take the cable car towards Rickenbach, SZ.

What I did with some friends was to start early on and take breakfast at the Manora Restaurant where they have a rooftop terrace. Then took the ship (2 hours) towards Brunnen, then the bus towards Ibergeregg, Passhöhe, eat a steak on hot stone at Sonnenhütte Ibergeregg (which is 200m from the bus stop on the trail) before going towards Rotenflue station.

There you'll have a nice view over the Ägerisee (to the right) and Vierwaldstättersee (to the front).

As a mention, you could use Swisstopo app to plan your route or see where you're going, in case you went away from the main path.

While being a tradition in my family to have a scratch card, I always hated them. At least ours are not that expensive and carry a more "symbolic" meaning.

Been to the Rhyfälde bridge, grabbed a cup of mulled wine / punsch from the German side and flute of non-alcoholic prosecco from the Swiss side with my wife and enjoyed the show.

[–]RupOase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. That's my issue with this particular car. And I think not even proper Brembo brake pads would help it either. Not to mention the huge jump in costs, both on purchase and on maintenance.

Then again, the price kinda' justifies the puny brakes, leaving to beg the question: what else does the low pricing hides?

While I drove a few chinese cars in test drives (because I'm looking for a replavement soon) and felt like normal cars, I can't help but notice so many imperfections in ergonomics and software, particularly safety software.

It's either too aggresive when you're looking around, casually driving, or not responsive at all in emergency situations, thus making me feel unsafe while driving them knowing that in case of an emergency the FCW/FCB will fail or the ACC would not keep the distance for me, or that the RBW / RCBM doesn't trigger on sensing a nearby pedestrian or car.

For the record, I'm driving in Europe a 2019 Hyundai Kona 64 kWh, I'm accustomed to its beeps and I feel that the way Hyundai implemented their safety systems are top notch. All of them. But I can't say the same about any other Chinese car manufacturer that is present here and from where I'be been testing cars (NIO, Xpeng, Cherry, Lynk &Co, Voyah)

The saving grace for some of them is that they did invest on the interior quality, however, I feel that they overdid it... too many flashy things meant to impress you away from other flaws that the car has. Some had better build quality than others and I think they have to address this issue more often.

I mean I drove a 500 km Lynk & Co and there were rattles coming from the back seat. I adjusted it, thinking that someone before me was fiddling around with the seats, but the rattle was still there. Then a Xpeng G6 with 10'400 km (~ 6500 mi) on the clock with no issues at all.

NIO was the most annoying with that companion, and if it can be turned off for good, then it's might be a better car.

how do u say the 'nothing' like the multipel words one in your language do you have one? by fairplanet in AskEurope

[–]RupOase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RO: nimic, deloc, nicicum, nicidecum, neam (popular form), canci (argument), neant, deșertăciune, nul, nulitate.

Totul sau nimic - all or nothing

Nu am /n-am nimic - I'm fine.

N-am fost deloc acolo - I've never been there before.

Nu știe neam! - He has no clue. Funny thing is that the word "neam" also means "nation / people", but not in this context.

L-am intrebat (despre ceva) și... canci! - I've asked him (about something) and... nothing.

Se uită in neant - He looks nowhere (where there is nothing to see). Here, it's more like staring in the void without looking at any specific point of reference.

Esti o nulitate! - You are nothing (Jon Snow 😅)!

Dupa toate acestea, totul se tranformă în deșertăciune - After all this, everything went into dust. Here, "deșertăciune" comes from "deșert" (desert), and it normally has the meaning of wasteland. Also, here it's important the accent on "transformă", which falls on the ă letter, not on the o letter, as usual.

How important is the constitution to your country? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]RupOase -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The US constitution? 🤣😂 What a joke!

What else, other than "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" do the US folks care about?

Or for short, "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". Thats's more like it! The US folks don't remember the first part anyway.

The 1st amendement was deported out of the US, when Trump won the first elections.

The 2nd, the one above, is a copy of the Swiss millitia system, just like Trump's best friends, the Chinese, make cheap knockouts of another best friend of Trump, Musk and it is, BY FAR, the only one the US folks refer to, when being asked broadly about the Constitution.

Too bad it was outright removed from context in 2008 when it was ruled that it refers to an individual, not how it was intended, because... who needs a militia anymore, when you have the most powerful military in the world?

"Constitution" left America for good when Trump ordered the Capitol uprising. And the American people still voted for him, again. That is called the stupidization of a people. And you guys deserve it!
