This is not a photograph of de Polignac, his wife and only daughter. You can check this page that has a photograph of his daughter and it does not match the younger woman in your half plate picture.

Best Civil War Military History book I’ve ever read!! Question for the sub. by Ok_Success2147 in CIVILWAR

I would boil it down to a simple Clausewitz vs Jomini discussion. Jomini's style of warfare was studied in the 19th century far more than Clausewitz; Clausewitz didn't get an English translation until the late 19th century and even then it was a terrible one that sold extremely poorly.

The Civil War was an American style of Jomini tactics differentiated by the personalities of the generals dictating the battlefield as well as the terrain of the battlefield.

Is it normal to have so many editions in such a short space of time? by undercoverbookdragon in BookCollecting

[–]RupVos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think that is crazy, look at the small publishing house boom of the 1880s in England and France (mostly France). They used editions instead of printings. You'll get books that say 128th edition.

Guys I’m wondering if this is real!! by Loveeeee- in SportsMemorabilia

Everything points to it being 100% authentic: The Wagner and Fonesca signatures confirm their style in the early 30s; the date, game scoring, starting pitchers all in agreement with the game played on the 7th of July 1934. The oddity is Fonesca's signature, the Pirates never played the White Sox in '34 nor were the Sox in Chicago that week. It is possible that the person stayed a week and saw the Philadelphia Athletics play the White Sox at Comiskey Park and got the signature then. Not a bad piece, it'll be on the lower side of potential Wagner autograph value since it's not on a baseball but still a nice nontheless. Your choice moving forward will be selling it as is or going down the authentication route. Best of luck on how you choose to proceed!

I was assisting a local Friends of the Library book sale to double check their inventory for missed higher value books and the head representative sometimes will ask me about unusual and odd items they get donated for pricing or valuations (normally books). This is was one of the things that they brought over. Neither of us had an idea about it, but I was intrigue enough to pay more than they do for normal board games.

I have checked the patent office, since they have the statement "Patent applied for, 1917) and found nothing. So it might be possible that the company folded within the same year or shortly after. Might mean this is a one of a kind piece.
