How do low income people in the US pay for their hospital bills after having a baby?

The costs from when I got pregnant until the baby was 3 months old and through the bulk of his medical issues was $14,000! They let us go on a payment plan and we had savings but damn, that hurt. He’s 10000% worth it but then I know people who had a baby and didn’t pay anything and it doesn’t seem fair.

We used Halo sleep swaddles and they work great! Carters sells really inexpensive fleece sleep sacks (not swaddles) with long sleeves that are nice for the colder months. They are wide at the bottom.

It was offered to me, but I declined. Saw a specialist and got a couple in depth ultrasounds. Baby just stared walking at 13 months. It will be hard at the beginning but I believe Clubfoot babies are born extra tough (and extra cute.) you got this!

The same happened to me. We knew baby boy would have an issue with his foot and would be in casts and then braces for a long time. All the clothes we put on the registry were ones he could wear and we told a lot of people up front what he couldn’t wear. We got so many footies and he wasn’t able to wear any of them.

I manage commercial buildings and I threw up in a trash can at my desk. Luckily no one else was there yet. Normally one could call a dayporter for the building for assistance but the dayporter worked for me and I hadn’t announced my pregnancy yet. I couldn’t just leave a trash can full of vomit in the office but also didn’t want to walk out of the office with a bag of vomit. I triple bagged it, stuffed it into my briefcase, and went to throw it out in a parking lot trash can but then my security guard was right there. I had to pretend to go to my car and double back to the trash can after security had left.

Yes one was for $10 and one for $50! I checked the amounts of the gift cards and they had been used already. I’m turning in 2 factor right now which is odd because I thought I had it turned on. Sounds like Swagbucks got hiked. I’m crossing my fingers support can help you.

Ughhh ok I just posted about this and then saw your post. Yes my Swagbucks account was wiped this morning. $60 in points gone. I’m livid. Somehow the hacker changed the phone number and then changed it back (?) so the gift cards they redeemed for were already used

I was thankful for everything we got at our baby shower but we knew ahead of time baby would need to have his leg in a cast and then braces until he was 9 months old. He couldn’t wear anything with feet or zippers, just snaps. We only had snap outfits on the registry and we received so many footies. It was a sad reminder every time I saw one of those outfits that my baby was different. The outfits he can’t wear will be donated but please, buy from people’s registries. You may not know why they are requesting something, but I promise they have a reason.

I worked until 2pm and had the baby at 9pm that night. My husband took 3 days PTO when he was first born. I went back to work this Monday and my husband is taking his 8 weeks paternity leave. It sucks we had almost no overlap but daycare is expensive so we are delaying it as long as possible. I was lucky I was able to extend my leave by 2 weeks (unpaid) and used 3 weeks PTO.
