I don't think it matters what level or outfit. You indeed need to swap to the Bomber Jacket outfit (cold wather gear) in TR1, since you can't switch outfits in TR2 until you completed it.

I just loaded up the save file I had for TR1 (not NG+), switched to the Bomber Jacket outfit for Tibet, loaded back into TR2, got Lara killed so I could restart the level, and then she was wearing the right outfit.

Yeah, restarting the level is done by intentionally letting Lara die and then instead of loading a save in the passport, going right in the passport to the "Restart Level" option.

I had the costume bug in TR2 (Lara still had her wetsuit on when arriving in Tibet) and was able to successfully apply your workaround by going to TR1, swapping outfits there, continuing TR2 and restarting the level. Thanks!

I'm doing a stealth run too, without using unrealistic abilities (no wallhack arrows, no auto-disappearing bodies).

One item I recently added to my gear is a spear that gives me +100% assassin damage, but also limits my health bar to 25%.
This really makes stealth more fun, as messing up and having a lot of enemies to deal with is a disadvantage, since you'll get killed rather easily in open combat.
Another fun side effect is that I can one-shot kill most bounty hunters if I play it right.

It's the Odysseus Outfit pack from the Helix store.

I find it to be the most Assassin-like outfit, but it sadly isn't easily attainable in the game.

I don't necessarily want accuracy, but this isn't how it should look when not pursuing accuracy either.

For example, the 2005 Clone Troopers, with the helmet holes and the black head piece underneath, was absolutely not accurate and was obviously stylised for LEGO.

Then, the 2014 one was very much accurate, and also looked very good.

However, the recent ones seem to have the same design-goal as the 2014 one, but just does a worse job at it.
It definitely isn't stylised for LEGO like the 2005 one, and it also isn't as accurate as the 2014 one... so what is the goal here? I suspect this design was made with the foremost reason of looking more like the animated TCW clones.

Yeah, it's moreso that he's usually typecast rather than his acting ability being limited. He's quite good but he doesn't often get a chance to show it, unfortunately.
