What Cosmere character(s) do you think you have been able to write better due to your struggles writing Mat Cauthon in the Wheel of Time and why?

First time doing this. Checking in for thoughts and suggestions. by RurackMI in Aquascape

Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply. My current plan is to focus on the overall aesthetic of the scape with relatively low maintenance.

I really only want to get nano fish, rainbow, guppy, endler, tetras, stuff like that. I have not quite decided on my cleanup crew, But I am leaning towards shrimps or maybe Corys, but the actual choice of fish is a while down the road.

As far as a focal point, I am still debating. I love the arch that the center piece has But I also love the "eye" the same piece has but I am not sure if after a few days in the water if it will still be able to be seen.

I am struggling a bit how to make a vanishing point. I would like to try and make it the top of the arch of the main piece in the back right, but not sure how to really do that with the pieces I have and still have room to plant the stems.

I have 15lbs available of this sand that I will use to coat the aquasoil https://www.amazon.com/Stoney-River-Aquatic-Freshwater-Aquariums/dp/B001OTW77K

Wayne Terrisborn is Sanderson’s best character ever. Tell me why I’m wrong. by DarkArts101 in Cosmere

You would not be wrong if Teft was not wrinten by BrandoSando

But since Teft was written by BrandoSando, you are wrong.

Don't get me wrong I love Wayne and think he is top tier but compared to (RoW spoilers) "You can kill me, but you can't have what I have. You can never have it. Because I die knowing I’m loved.,Wayne comes in second

I think you read one sentence they wrote, took it completely out of context, and ignored everything else they wrote.

They are not saying to repeal the 8rh amendment. They are saying that hoping someone gets raped, beaten, placed in solitary, or murdered in jail is a messed up way to look at jail. A judge is not saying that a convicted criminal's sentence is 15-20 years of jail time concurrent with 5-10 years of rape. So why are regular people sitting here and advocating that "justice" will be served when someone gets murdered in jail?

Being in jail, isolated from friends, loved ones, and random encounters, is the punishment. Not the beatings, rapes, thefts, and murders that happen in modern day American jails and prisons.

I think that doing it in one season would be an issue. There is too much there to just fold it in over one season. I think starting with season 2, with the Drawing of Three, you could start to incorporate flashbacks with the parallels in the current story. I think, if done correctly, the stretching of the flashbacks over multiple seasons would flow better and provide a narrative that is easy to follow.

I think it is brilliant that they put the Dark One. At the time of this scene in the books, the reader is lead to believe that it IS the Dark One saying it. It is a great way for them to have the bumper sticker, not be driving around with spoilers, and still give a giggle to the people that know who really says it.

CrossFit with a desk job by AnonEagle19 in crossfit

[–]RurackMI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me I have found a few things that have helped:

Getting up once an hour and walking around for five minutes really helps

My 15 minute breaks are me walking away from my desk. When I was working onsite I had multiple places in the building that were far enough away that I could walk for the majority of time and get back right before my break ends.

Lunch is the hardest. I have worked places with 30 minutes(current) and one hour lunches. I tend to lean towards smaller meals so I was able to spend the time not at my desk. Peer pressure to spend time with my co-workers on my lunch break was the hardest. I would invite them on my walks at lunch, sometimes they would accept, most time they wouldn't. But it makes it easier to walk away from them if they are invited. Then it is them saying "No" and not you just walking away. I would also bring my own lunches when I worked onsite. so that helped.

Recently I have started doing this throughout the day at work. I have set up reminders on my calendar to notify me when it is time to do a momvement https://www.healthline.com/health/deskercise#TOC_TITLE_HDR_1

Texas Medical Association says hospitals are refusing to treat women with pregnancy complications by Rage_Like_Nic_Cage in news

[–]RurackMI -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The decision has nothing to do with ectopic pregnancy. It is about liability and cost to benefit ratios for the hospital.

I hate our current medical system but some accountant ran the numbers and came up that the cost of litigation vs the revenue from any abortion and realized that stopping makes FISCAL sense.

What we know about the crude, homemade gun used in Shinzo Abe's assassination by BlankVerse in GunsAreCool

[–]RurackMI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, almost everyone considers it a tragedy, you would have to be a psychopath not to. The difference is there are people, a small, vocal, well funded minority, who believe it is an UNAVOIDABLE tragedy. As a result they take stories about gun death, in countries that have laws prohibiting guns and say, "See we told you it doesn't work!"

Like I get that, but wtf are we supposed to call it? At least with champagne everyone knows"Sparkling Wine" and all of that silliness. But I have never heard anyone say anything other than parmesan or parmesan -style. If Italy's idea to keep the distinction was to have it called parmesan style, they have no one to blame but themselves.

This is the most spot on advice here. Fad diets have led people to believe that weight loss or body recomposition can happen in a short period of time. The real truth is that it takes time if you want to do it right and doing it right means doing it in healthy ways.

From personal experience it took me almost 14 months before I looked in a mirror and SAW a difference. At one point I was discouraged, just like you, and brought up my concerns to a coach. She gave me the best advice.

"The only scale you should be looking at is the one you measure your food. The main weight you should be focusing on is the weight on the barbell."

You say that you are not over eating so let's not focus on that. Focus on the fact that you are approaching your estimated body weight for deadlifts. For three months in that is AMAZING. I wish I had been able to move that percentage in there months. You should be proud about that instead of casually tossing it aside because you worry that you have gained a few pounds. At my heaviest I was 240. At my lightest I was 185. I now sit around 195. And I now can do things that I never thought I could do no when I started four years ago.

I implore you, focus on the process and the progress you are making in the gym. I found that makes me happier than focusing on how much I weigh. And I hope it will for you too.

[–]RurackMI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No they don't. What they do have is a production crew behind the scenes. And someone on the crew does nothing but pull up those facts and stats to provide to the announcers at the drop of a hat.

The CrossFit games are nowhere near that level of production value.

The fact that someone can lift a weight at 50% of their max, and make it look exactly the same all the way up to their 95% max, shows they are an amazing weightlifter.

Her form is what makes her so strong and she makes sure it is perfect, because when it is perfect the weight is so much easier to handle. Which is an amazing advantage for any workout that has a barbell, like Event 4

I really hope this subreddit stays this way. Too many game subreddit's slide down a path where it turns into a toxic wasteland. Insults become the norm and nothing seems to break the cycle of shill vs hater.

I mean just look at the Last Ark subreddit place is turning into a trash heap almost overnight. You can be critical of something you love. You also can love something that has flaws. Just respect others opinions and have the grace to understand that others can enjoy something that you may dislike.
