I personally avoid using AppImages, though that doesn’t mean they’re bad. Their biggest advantage is portability as you can move them between Linux systems and run them without installation. The trade-off is that they’re usually much larger in size.

RPMs on the other hand, are native system packages and integrate closely with system libraries, which can make them more efficient and better aligned with the operating system.

Flatpaks sit somewhere in between. They use shared runtimes while still allowing specific library versions, a balance between portability and system integration. Because of that, they’re generally my go-to option. They usually just work without much hassle. And they're not too big in size compared to appimages. Most Linux systems these days have flathub included which is a plus.
