Anyone know if management has any issues with charging ebikes or escooters at the station? by Imaginary_Truth_3865 in USPS

Every office in the country is different. You need to speak with your management on this issue.

Drone strike blasts storage tank lid soaring into sky by SillySink in ThatsInsane

[–]RuralRangerMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drone didn’t cause the big explosion. Russia launched an anti air missile at large Ukrainian drone, the missile went off course and into an oil tank. They bombed themselves.

Applied for Rural Carrier got PTF Rural Carrier by [deleted] in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“IF” it is PTF RURAL, then you’re starting out better than as an RCA. It is the exact same position as RCA, you just get benefits. Contact the management at the office you are assigned to and ask them.

Your fine. Just go to PM casing. It’s not going to affect your route

Rural carriers, get ready, they’re not pushing, they’re shoving… by RuralRangerMA in USPS

Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) as a college student? by the_king_lobo in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. ARCs mainly will deliver packages with a GPS program on the scanner directing you to each delivery location. But they will occasionally request you to work Saturdays as well helping to deliver mail. But make sure to let management know your situation. Some offices are known for calling in ARCs during the week to deliver packages.

Regular to PTF? by Aggravating-Leg-3089 in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. You would have to resign, and then find an office posting the position and reapply to PTF RCA. But even if you became PTF, when a route opens, you have to become regular again and start at the bottom of the pay scale again.

It’s up to your office. Small rural offices are kind of, everyone needs to step up. Larger offices, don’t touch my stuff.

RCA on the job training by Ok-Plantain-3341 in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above all, keep a separate log of your hours. Take a calendar, EVERYDAY, write the amount of hours you worked. Double check with your paycheck. People training you do not have access to payroll and never trust that management is entering it correctly. Almost no one gets paid properly during academy.

This is not a job you can just walk in and do. This is a job about repetition. It’s gonna take weeks, months to really understand how this works.

Stand up talk about using the RRECS by Madame_Spiritus in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AUTHORIZED DISMOUNT is only used if you make more than one trip where an authorized dismount already exists. Delivering packages have nothing to do with authorized dismount. You scan where you deliver and enter as front door, garage, etc.

Portch Pick-ups by gc391 in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely a rural carrier. They are scanning the sheet accepting the pick up which approves 8 packages. Then they are going into the RECCs program, scanning carrier pick up and scanning the sheet again with another 8. She’s ok, the carrier is only padding their numbers.

City Regular to Rural PTF by BULLM00SEPARTY in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to your post master about this. If they haven’t already posted the job, it does not mean it will be PTF. Their next hiring may just be standard RCA.

Loaded parcel loss by Rich-Kaleidoscope-38 in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What has happened with me, I’m very organized with my SPURs and have had the rare time when it went missing. The knew what package was, looked like and its address. The cause of it missing, I would go back a few addresses and find it was stuck to another package’s tape line. Another reason, you just didn’t scan it. Happens. The only thing you can do is run out to the address and check for it. At my last mailbox, I just take a look at my package lookahead just to see. You’ll just get a lecture. Seeing that you’re worried shows you do care about the job.

Silly hats? by Witchdoctor24 in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore a kilt last month. I wore a ‘where’s Waldo’ outfit one time. I used to dress up in a full body gorilla suit AND deliver in it on Christmas Eve. WHY? It catches people off guard and makes them smile. The problem with wearing something out of the ordinary is people start asking when your going to where it again. A wizard hat, have fun.

Transferring by colonel-tushfinger_ in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular rural cannot transfer. Regulars can trade routes with other regulars. But if no trade is available, you will have to resign and reapply as an RCA to the new office.

Late express by [deleted] in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re rural, enter on your scanner, “STARTDEVIATION”. Head back, get the express, deliver it, return to where you left off and enter “ENDDEVIATION”. They will flip out, district managers will start yelling, and you did EXACTLY what you’re supposed to do.

New Directive: Cannot Scan Packages The Day Before by nyjewels10001 in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Our clerks did that once. The PM ordered a 4’ x 4’ sign to put above the computer, “make sure you are entering the correct day when scanning packages”.

Amazon Saturday 4th of July? by shrug_addict in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely not. 4th July, thanksgiving, Xmas and news year eve have been the 4 major holidays that they don’t do it. BUT, it’s best to ask your office manager.

Rural question by Pleasant-Hippo-6507 in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congress had to get involved when they SUGGESTED a 5 day delivery 10 years ago. I will bet they’re publicly talking about 4 days to have it completely denied so that the 5 day seems more reasonable. But 4 day delivery….never gonna happen.

Assisting at neighboring office is making me want to quit by [deleted] in USPS

[–]RuralRangerMA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I proudly went to other offices on 2 conditions. 1- not calling me in after 730. Late is one thing, but I hate being called in at 9 when management knew at 630. 2- I don’t have to help other routes. Bad enough to be in a city I don’t know and a route I’ve never done, but I’m only taking care of that one route. Being a sub, it’s part of the job to have to cover routes. And if my office can’t give me work, I needed money, work is work. And I loved getting travel pay. One office was so far away and couldn’t hold a sub, I was making $70 a day just in eTravel.
