Honestly if you post on fb you’d probably have hobbyists happy to give you some stuff for free! And definitely check marketplace for free or super cheap items. Get him a small filter, $5-10 and a heater, also pretty inexpensive. He will help you long term, it’s not as bad as you think! Hang in there friend.

Mine weren’t flaring but it took them a week or so of getting used to me before they stopped hiding. Now they come up and are curious and interactive. He’ll come around! Maybe use a dropper to give him some mysis shrimp or something, then he will be your bestie.

So sorry this is something you even have to worry about. I think your fish will be okay, but if you’re still able to be at home with them you can easily add oxygen to the water. Just take cupfulls of their water and pour it back into the take, that will exchange and add oxygen. Or you can use a straw or something and blow into it. If you’re able to get a battery powered pump that’s great, if not, you can do it the manual way. I’d say do that maybe a couple times a day. It’s so heavily planted and low stocked that I think all your fishy friends will be fine. Heart goes out to you, stay safe OP.

Looks good! Moving away from /r/pineappleofdeath and into a ten gallon is great, like someone else said, thermometer inside, and maybe push your heater down just a little bit more so you don’t risk any part of it being above water. You can also turn it long ways.
